Jagga Jasoos - A bit of magic

This is really first of its kind Bollywood has come up with , a fun musical, mystery like the Tintin comics and a bit of inspiration from Satyajit Ray's work of fantasy. Loved the fantasy and musical element to it. Yes overall the movie could have been a bit tighter but for a new experiment its worth viewing. Right from Naxalites to International Terrorism every anti society issue has been dealt with. The movie rests on the shoulders of Ranbir Kapoor and he definitely brings in the freshness to the character. Katrina Kaif is not bad and she looks great as always. Saswata Chatterjee is very adorable and delivers a fine performance. Saurabh Shukla is strictly ok. Cinematography is supreme. Anurag Basu has put in lot of efforts and its visible, hope for everyone's efforts the movie does well commercially. There's something magical about the movie and I quite liked it. Recommended :)

Spider-Man: Homecoming - Entertaining

When I watched Captain America last year I thought Marvel was losing it but they have really bounced back with much needed energy and freshness in this one. Loved the new Spiderman - Tom Holland the new kid on the block is really cool and quite a charmer at that. The story is quite gripping and the source of negative energy Vulture aka Michael Keaton is quite interesting as well. And of course it is great to watch Robert Downey Junior. Marisa Tomei as May Parker is super cool. Great fun ride but personally my favorite Spiderman movie would be the Toby Maguire one - 2002 release. Its absolutely ok to fail but more important to bounce back after the failure. Recommended

Mom - Hard Hitting movie with superlative performances

300th movie of Sridevi ought to be special and this one is in every way be it the sensitive subject or the superlative performance by her,she definitely is the lifeline of the movie. Since God cannot be everywhere, He created Mother and the movie lives upto this saying and more. The film is hard-hitting and got a heart wrenching story, outstanding job by debutante director Ravi Udyawar indeed. Nawazuddin Siddiqui come up with yet again an awesome performance. Akshaye Khanna is very good wonder why we don't see him often. The other two actors who are really good are Adnan Siddiqui and Sajal Ali. The outstanding scenes for me are the scenes between Sridevi and Nawazuddin ,the climax and the scene when Sridevi breaks down when she sees her daughter in the hospital, just brilliant. Definitely a powerhouse that reflects the horrors of the society we live in today and the world still remains unsafe for women. Absolutely recommended.

Baby Driver - Uber cool

Super stylish crime and heist movie, fast paced enough to keep you on the edge of your seat :) I am not letting the story out it won't be fair :) All I can say is the plot is intriguing and unpredictable and really exceptional. The cast is impeccable and everyone of them is superb - Ansel Elgort,Kevin Spacey,Jamie Foxx,Jon Hamm,Jon Bernthal,Eiza González,Lily James. Director Edgar Wright has surpassed all his earlier directed movies with this one. A slick smart movie with great music, action and humor,a movie not to be missed of course :) Recommended

The Big Sick - Hilarious yet poignant

Loved this romantic comedy as cliched it might sound this one comes really with a fresh whiff of air. Love knows no boundaries cultural differences might come up but the matters of heart are much above the cultural differences. Unity does lie in diversity, the mind has to be open for acceptance and the rest is take care of :) The best part of this movie is that it deals with deeply serious complex issues, but does so with humor and grace. The movie is based on a real relationship story of Kumail Nanjiani played by himself and his wife Emily played by Zoe Kazan and both of them have done a superb job. Rest of the cast comprising of Holly Hunter,Ray Romano,Anupam Kher , Zenobia Shroff, Adeel Akhtar,Bo Burnham, Aidy Bryant, Kurt Braunohler, and David Alan Grier are just fabulous and brings in the much needed depth the story needed. An absolute treat of a romantic comedy, hilarious yet poignant,a must watch :) Recommended :)

Raman Raghav 2.0 - Ugly but good thriller

Two awful characters and two awesome actors and the result is a mindblowing movie which is bound to leave you disturbed, well thats the brilliant strength of their acting. Nawazuddin Siddiqui is outstanding of course there is no surprise there but the other actor who gives him equally great company is Vicky Kaushal,he is simply superb. Not letting the story out, it wouldn't be fair to the filmmaker. Anurag Kashyap is best at making realistic movies, infuses life and soul into it, this is indeed one of his great work. Don't go by the ratings of TOI, they have been totally unfair to this brilliant piece of cinema. No its not a feel good cinema but a fantastic cinema nevertheless. If you have liked Black Friday,Ugly,Gangs Of Wasseypur then you are bound to like this. Yes I thought its great but have to see a bit of feel good cinema, my mind is disturbed right now no complaints, credit goes to the great filmmaker and fantastic performances by all the actors specially the two main leads. Recommended of course. P.S : I can totally get the love for cinema in other individuals but please please don't show this to your children below 18 years , I witnessed parents coming with their toddlers for this movie and they were crying(cant blame them at all) its pretty dark and grim for their understanding and why should they see the ugly side of life at their tender age when it can be avoided, please show them 'Finding Dory' or 'Dhanak '

ABCD - Any Body Can Dance - 2

Life is about the next step and indeed it is and look ahead and learn from the mistakes made.. This movie solely concentrates on the basic premise of dancing and thats the way it should be when you have a title such as this. Director Remo D'souza needs to be applauded for extracting the never seen before awesome dance movements, one of the best dance based films that Bollywood has ever witnessed, with stunning visuals that look splendid in 3D,making it worth of every penny spent and every second of the 2hr 34 mts dance extravaganza. Loved Varun Dhawan in this film,he is so sincere and dedicated in his work that it reflects in his performance, this guy has really come a long way since 2012 release 'Student Of The Year', First 'Badlapur' in Feb 2015 and now this one, he is a star and a good actor , very sincere love that about him. Shraddha Kapoor delivers yet another good performance, there is something so innocent and nice about her. The chemistry between Varun Dhawan and Shraddha Kapoor is just so cool , the pairing really works :) Prabhudheva the man of few words does deliver a power packed peformance. Dharmesh Yelande, Lauren Gottlieb, Raghav Juyal did a splendid as the supporting cast. I felt really bad when Lauren Gottlieb did not win the 'Jhalak Dikhla Ja' trophy in 2013 but I guess other better things were in store for her like this movie :) Pooja Batra, Kapil Sharma and Navjot Singh Sidhu cameos were good fun to watch. Liked Tisca Chopra in her brief role, wonder why such good actresses dont make appearences often. Remo D'souza's choreography is simply outstanding..Respect. The film has the right mix of content and visuals in it and has the right value of entertainment. There are few scenes in the movie which is bound to create a lump in your throat :) Recommended for sure :)

Man of Steel

Awesome special effects and a very good looking Superman(Henry Cavill) but beyond that its another enjoyable Superhero movie :) Liked Russell Crowe , Amy Adams ,Kevin Costner and Diane Lane and yes Michael Shannon. I think the most enjoyable Superman series the ones which I have watched as a child the special effects weren't mind boggling but the story was far more soulful. Having seen most of the super hero movies I can surely vouch for 'The Dark Knight' series as the best one. Superman movies does not happen very often so for the special effects yes it is recommended..

Dhanak (Rainbow) - Simple yet brilliant

When life gets competitive and complicated watching a simple and sweet movie like this can completely unwind you and tell you life can be as simple and hopeful and full of love and zeal minus the complications. The movie is uplifting with some brilliant performances by the child actors Krrish Chhabria and Hetal Gada and yes rest of the cast comprising of Vipin Sharma,Gulfam Khan,Vibha Chibber,Vijay Maurya,Suresh Menon,Rishi Deshpande,Rajiv Laxman,Chet Dixon,Ramakant Dayma has pitched in equally great performances. The movie has something very magical and heartwarming about it, the storytelling is beautiful, never a dull moment and the dialogues are so much fun, sharing the tit bits of life without ever getting preachy. Loved the bantering between the brother and sister talking about their love for SRK and Salman Khan respectively. The movie leaves you with an awesome feel good factor and the outlook towards life is simply brilliant. Another outstanding movie by Director Nagesh Kukunoor. Nagesh Kukunoor, recently launched a book of the same name penned by Anushka Ravishankar .The book is the first Indian novelisation of a children’s film. In most of the cases novels are adapted as movies but in this case, it is completely opposite. Loved the movie completely and strongly recommend the same. Movies of this kind come very rarely so don't miss this gem of a movie please :)

Finding Dory - Loved it

Quite a substantial part of the movie watchers across the globe was waiting eagerly for this movie and why not when there is a prequel like 'Finding Nemo',so the important question is whether this lives upto the expectation ,oh yes it does and more :) The animation is brilliant well when there is Disney involvement we can't expect anything lesser, they seem to be just getting better and better. The story revolving around the importance of family and friends in other words the important relationships in our lives which keeps us going in the journey of life. Dory's voice over by Ellen DeGeneres is just too good. A sequel is bound to be compared with its prequel and I thought this sequel superceded its prequel. The movie has its beautiful sentimental moments as well joyous moments which surely will bring a smile to your face :) Dory did have a bit of memory problem but 'Finding Dory' will remain unforgettable in the hearts and minds of movie goers. Recommended..Don't miss it :)

Cars 3 - Fun Ride

Lightning McQueen is back in this fun and endearing version loaded with motivation and never give up attitude. The transformation of the racer to becoming a mentor is indeed very inspiring,an awesome example of when to let go and diverse the focus on something more productive, its not easy but totally worth it. I thought this was much better than Cars 2. A fun ride not to be missed with a good lesson for life. And of course the animation is superb as always Recommended

Udta Punjab - Great piece of cinema

This is a dark movie with abundance use of words which censor was planning to cut, glad Bombay High Court ruled that out as there would be no dialogues to hear then :) The movie revolves around drugs abuse as a result of which the majority of the youth is getting deteriorated and thats not a problem of Punjab alone , drug abuse happens across the country and beyond. Loved the entry of Rockstar Shahid Kapoor , he has done a wonderful job of the rockstar whose life is lost in drugs and then the awakening of finding the true meaning of life and love. Alia Bhatt in a complete non glamorous role and what an awesome job at that, she surely leaves her mark behind. Both Diljith Doshanj and Kareena Kapoor are very impressive in their respective roles. If you have liked the movies in the genre of Dev D,Gangs Of Waseypur then you will surely like this one. I liked it very much, worth the wait and the time and money spent. There is a stark reality in this movie and the closure does leave you with hope to live and love :) Good work by the production team and director Abhishek Chaubey. Glad Anurag Kashyap and the entire team stood by their ideals and didn't bow to CBFC. Cinema is an art of expression one may or may not like it but the right to expression cannot be curbed. Time and again the theory of Karma explained very well Recommended of course for the adult audience, go and enjoy a good piece of cinema :)

Pay It Forward - Great movie

Great movie indeed ..very moving story compels you to leave everything aside and think about life and its perspectives and reinforces the thought of helping fellow humans the best way to make this world a better place. The end really took me by surprise.Brilliant performances by Kevin Spacey,Helen Hunt and Haley Joel Osement.Indeed its a great thing to pay it forward......

Ferrari Ki Sawari - Simple and nice

Simple yet brilliant what a gem of a movie.A total feel good movie which gives you lots of reasons to smile and leaves behind the best of thoughts for a good life. This should be a must watch for everyone I repeat you will miss something good in life as I said for Madagascar 3.Sharman Joshi is simply superb and what an accomplished actor Boman Irani is and loved the performance by the child artiste Ritwick Sahore is simply brilliant.Yes there are cinematic liberties taken but yet FERRARI KI SAWAARI is indeed a noble film, a film that has its heart in the right place. Recommended recommended recommended :)

The Grand Budapest Hotel - Sheer Delight

A movie made in distinct style with some amazing performances from all the actors and it had a good lot of them. The humor which will leave you in splits , it is indeed a spectacular movie and the line that is etched in my mind is '"There are still faint glimmers of civilization left in this barbaric slaughterhouse that was once known as humanity... He was one of them. " :) Recommended :)

Jurassic World - Entertaining

22 years back I remember watching 'Jurassic Park' and shrieking at many scenes as we witnessed such fearful scenes for the first time and the series coming back after much more than a decade definitely has spine chilling thrills which will keep you on your edge :) Extremely beautiful locales and mind boggling special effects. Jurassic Park will always remain the cult but this one is surely better than the rest of the series. Enjoyed the thrilling ride and hoping you would too :) Irfan Khan is good and makes his presence felt and rest of the cast comprising of Chris Patt and others are decent too. Recommended for a good fun thrilling watch this weekend :)

Shanghai - Good thriller

Very interesting political thriller with a great storyline and some fantastic performances makes this one totally worth the watch.Loved the bit where the due credit is given to Greek writer and diplomat Vassilis Vassilikos for his novel 'Z' wherein we always all the other Hindi movies are shamelessly copied, inspired but noone has the decency to admit the same on a public platform so hats off to the 'Shanghai' team for this noble approach. This movie depicts the current scenario of Indian politics which is truly hopeless sad but true..Abhay Deol was great so was Emran Hashmi must say he did a great job.Go For it

Now You See Me - Smart and sleek

Now this is what you call a smart, sleek, taut ,entertaining thriller and illusion/magic being the focal points makes the viewing all the more interesting. Loved the magic tricks performed if only life was this easy :) If you love heist movies then surely do not miss this one and this one has a good dose of humor and yes visually too its very appealing. The twist in the end is totally unexpected and is bound to take you by surprise. Performance wise everyone was good but my favorite was Mark Ruffalo and French actress Melanie Laurent. Looking for a smart movie don't miss this one.
Recommended and yes undoubtedly the best release this weekend :)

The Mummy (2017) - Mediocre rather very mediocre

1999 release 'The Mummy' seems like a good classic compared to this rubbish movie, the only claim this movie has is Tom Cruise and thats it. The 1999 version starring Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz, might not have been a 'masterpiece', but it was a good old-fashioned action/adventure movie which was quite a fun movie and it really entertained, this version does nothing of that sort. Russell Crowe is wasted to the core,he is more like a dimwit. Sofia Boutella as the evil princess is just about alright but yes she looks every bit evil, amazing after thousands of years remaining buried in Egypt she starts speaking English fluently ,the air of London I guess :) Hollywood also produces trashy movies, this is one such :) The trailer seemed interesting but not the movie unfortunately.. A few good visuals does not make it a good movie. I sincerely hope they don't make a sequel of this disastrous movie. The movie lacks energy big time which is the primary source of any adventure movie. Even if you are a die hard Tom Cruise, watch it when the tickets are not exorbitantly priced :) The movie is very mediocre, not recommended

Quartet - Gem Of A Movie

Glad I chose this movie as my 200th one for the year 2013, a special milestone of this kind should be achieved by watching a special movie and this one just served the purpose :) Directed by Dustin Hoffman this movie captures the twilight years of one's life beautifully and music being the soul of this movie just helped further. Maggie Smith was superb as always Wonder why such gem of movies aren't released in India..loved it and recommend it :) A pleasant watch for sure tells us never to lose the zest for life ...remember we have one and a timed one at that :)

Dil Dhadakne Do - Entertaining

This movie reminded me of the fake flower shop where everything looks as real as it can get but the moment you take a closer look you realize its all plastic and absolutely no soul in it ,this star embedded movie reminds me of the same. Zoya Akhtar 's earlier works were really impressive this one was nowhere close to her earlier work in terms of the depth of the story and the characters. The cast is vibrant for sure and there are few scenes which were real good : 1) First meeting between Rahul Bose and Farhan Akhtar 2) When Anil Kapoor finally stands up for his daughter against her dominating and egoistic husband - Rahul Bose 3)The scene where Farhan Akhtar tells Rahul Bose that by using the word permission he is showing his authority which conflicts with the equal rights of women I thought the climax of the movie was way too dramatic and over the top. Anil Kapoor is as effortless as ever, the salt and pepper hair that he sports only adds elegance and style to his character. Shefali Shah has given a stunning performance , she really should do more movies. Ranveer Singh I think he was the best part of the movie , gives a very honest and sincere performance , loved him in this one, best performance till date. Priyanka Chopra. is good so was the rest of the cast comprising of Anushka Sharma,Ridhima Sud,Vivek Messy,Parmeet Sethi,Rahul Bose and Zarina Wahab. And yes it was a pleasure to see Farhan Akhtar even in a brief but meaningful role :) If everyone has the courage as Priyanka Chopra's character did we will surely be surrounded by more and more happily divorced people around us :) I am not saying the movie is bad but the definitely lacked the soul and depth , a good decent DVD watch is all I have to say about this movie :) But yes its shot beautifully so maybe on weekdays when the multiples tickets are cheaper it would be a better bet to invest on this particular movie :) I am not going to watch this movie second time for sure :)

Baywatch - very average

It has its funny moments and some good underwater shots and thats it. Dwayne Johnson is the best part of this movie. Priyanka Chopra is a fabulous actress ,even in her last Hindi movie release 'Jai Gangajaal' she was superb, but for her much talked about Hollywood Debut I would say this was very average in terms of acting skills ,she looks fabulous of course. Rest of the cast is just about alright. I have not watched the TV series so no comparison. Overall an average movie.

A Death in the Gunj - Brilliant piece of Cinema

Watching this gem of a movie was like reading a real interesting piece of work of Ruskin Bond, simple, relatable and brilliant. This movie is based on the short story by Mukul Sharma The town shown in this movie is exactly the place where one would like to take a break from the noisy superficial world and immerse oneself in the simplicity of life. Not letting the story out that would be unfair,to sum it up all I would say is it has good share of thrilling moments, moments of joy and moments of suspense. Storytelling and direction is impeccable, the apple definitely has not fallen far from the tree,in other words the directorial debut of Konkona surely make her mother Aparna Sen proud. Vikrant Massey as Shutu/Shyamal is the best part of the movie, super impressed with his acting skills,an actor to watch out for. Gulshan Devaiah as Nandu is just fabulous, the fun and sometimes mean character of his definitely has a pivotal role to play in the movie. Every actor fits their role to the perfection. Kalki Koechlin after 2016 release 'Waiting' this has another superb performance of hers. It was a pleasure to see Tanuja after a long time lighting up the screen. Om Puri sigh, the actor will be missed, big loss for the film industry. Tillotama Shome is fabulous so is Ranvir Shorey. Jim Sarbh as Brian portrays the role of an Anglo Indian character to the hilt. Arya Sharma the child actor as Tani is very good. Its unfortunate that the mainstream Bollywood does not utilize the talent of the above mentioned characters, the way it should be,but there are some movie directors who do and thankful to them for presenting this awesome cast and a gripping story. Our prime purpose in this life is to help others, and if you can't help them,at least don't hurt them. A brilliant piece of cinema not to be missed,of course recommended.

Wonder Woman - The Game Changer

Every woman has the power, grace, wisdom and wonder within but for the suspicious nature and insecurities they have towards fellow women, this world definitely would have been filled with wonder women :) This one is a fabulous super heroine movie if I may say with a good story and good dose of humor and awesome action. Gal Gadot is superb as Diana/Wonder Woman and an extremely gorgeous one at that, she is the perfect choice for this role. Rest of the actors also have done a great job and all of them, namely - Chris Pine,Robin Wright,Connie Nielsen,Danny Huston,David Thewlis,Saïd Taghmaoui,Ewen Bremner,Eugene Brave Rock,Lucy Davis,Elena Anaya,Lilly Aspell (Princess Diana as a child and so adorable) The locales are just breathtaking. Wonder Woman definitely could be the game changer in the league of super hero movies. Kudos to director Patty Jenkins to come up with an awesome movie of a refreshing super woman. Of course recommended.

Forces of Nature - Fun Ride

Extremely entertaining and not really predictable thats the best part about it.It shows how every one you meet, even short "chance" meetings, have some impact on you, and this is a large part of what the movie tries to convey and it does it very well. Fun nice DVD watch...

Kramer vs. Kramer - Superb drama

A terrific drama about an unhappy woman(Meryl Streep) who walks out on her husband(Dustin Hoffman) and young son. The husband now has to take up the responsibilities of taking care of the boy. As he does they get to know each other better. But then, the mother and wife returns, and she wants custody of the boy.Terrific drama and terrific performances.

Phobia - Interesting Thriller

A psychological thriller which is bound to spook you, great performance by Radhika Apte, she is absolutely fabulous, apart from the superb thrilling story the other compelling factor would be her brilliant performance. The real and the fiction sometimes has the line is too thin to believe or not to believe, human mind is the most powerful and the most dangerous organ of the body, no wonder we are the most dangerous species in this universe. There's never a closure in our lives and the movie conveys the same very well. Liked the performance of Satyadeep Misra and Nivedita Bhattacharya too. A very interesting piece of cinema by director Pawan Kripalani. If you looking for some real good thrills then this is the one for you :) Recommended :)

Waiting - Gem Of A Movie

The period of waiting for anything in life can be the most hopeful and frustrating period at the same time. One's grief is one's own and no one else can understand the pain and lessen the pain, the comforting words after one point of time seems like vague words, yes its difficult to remain positive during life's toughest times but ultimately its the faith, hope and belief which keeps us going. During the times of our despair there are various phases , a phase of shock, a phase of anger why me,a phase of depression but finally one has to pick up the threads together and move ahead in life. The above stanzas is what the movie all about and more. Naseeruddin Shah and Kalki Koechlin are the soul of the movie with great support from Rajat Kapoor, Rajeev Ravindranathan,Arjun Mathur ,Suhasini Rathnam. Loved every bit of the movie, the essence of life infused in it so beautiful, yes tragedy when it hits us we do get shaken and often forget the joy of smiling but it is the positive force alone which can fight the negative force. Director Anu Menon has made a simple and yet a brilliant movie just like beautiful stories of Ruskin Bond this one is bound to touch your heart and give you the inspiration to pick up the threads again :) I liked her earlier movie 2012 release London Paris New York also quite a bit :) A must watch , please don't miss it :) Recommended

Alice Through the Looking Glass - Fun Fantasy movie

The whimsical world of wonderland and Alice and her friends is sheer magical and a complete delight to watch. As expected the movie is visually stunning and the story quite engrossing. Loved the message in the movie no point in pondering about the past and trying to reverse the time, rather learn lessons from the past mistakes and move on peacefully to future success and if an apology can rectify it be it :) The only way to make impossible to possible is to believe it is possible and go ahead with the faith. Mia Wasikowska as Alice is very good and noone could do Madhatter as good as Johnny Depp. Helena Bonham Carter and Anne Hathway fit their roles perfectly. Sacha Baron Cohen as Time is fun to watch. It was great to hear Alan Rickman's voice. If you like fantasy movies then this one is a must watch for you. Recommended

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales - Complete Fun Ride

The fifth installment of the Pirates-series is here and its a complete fun ride rest assured. The visual effects are just simply spectacular, extremely impressive. Dialogues are witty surely, the only place I felt it lagged was the sea battles which were quite interesting in the prequels. Good acting by everyone, not mind blowing but entertaining enough. The fire in Jack Sparrow is still there after his tipsy avatar in the initial scenes and yes Johnny Depp is fun to watch. Javier Bardem has done a good job as the negative character. The other actors who are notably good are Geoffrey Rush,Brenton Thwaites,Kaya Scodelario,Kevin McNally,Golshifteh Farahani. Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley have guest appearances. I thought it was a compete fun ride with its good share of thrilling moments therefore recommend the same :) And by no means this is the end of the pirate series, they will be back trust me :)

U Turn (Kannada) - Good thriller

A real sharp, smart and slick taut thriller with real good performances,I am not letting the story out it would be unfair to the viewers. Loved every bit of the 121 minutes of this taut thriller despite of being a song less movie this is really high on thrilling moments :) All the main leads have done a marvellous job have made the characters look as real as it can get. Thought Shraddha Srinath was real good and very pretty actress at that :) Roger Narayan the cop is really cool and hot :) Rest of the cast consisting of Radhika Chetan,Dilip Raj,Krishna Hebbale are all very good. Karma it hits us when least expected.. Great movie by Pawan Kumar, a must watch ,language should never ever be a barrier to experience a great piece of work and probably an opportunity to understand and learn the language, specially when there are English subtitles. Loved the way the cops describe Facebook and its side effects :) U Turn Madkoli but where its allowed not just to avoid the traffic :) Recommended surely :)

The Lost City of Z - Great streak of adventure

Based on the non-fiction book by American author David Grann this movie is about the adventures of explorer Lieutenant Colonel Percival Harrison Fawcett whose deadly obsession to discover the lost city of Z in the jungles of Amazon and finally gets lost not to be found with his elder son Jack Fawcett. Charlie Hunnam as Lieutenant Colonel Percival Harrison Fawcett is very good. Robert Pattinson has come a long way from his Twilight days and the actor in him is very impressive. Sienna Miller as the supportive yet independent wife is excellent. Look out for Tom Holland as the elder son,his next release is something the whole world is waiting for. Another good movie from director James Gray The movie is as interesting and adventurous as the title is,a thoroughly enjoyable ride. Nothing happens in your life if its not in your destiny and such is the journey of life. Recommended.

Tomorrowland- Worth A Watch

Not a fan of science fiction movies but if the movie stars George Clooney then of course the tickets are booked without a second thought :) But to my surprise I quite liked the movie and loved the message of not having the word impossible in our mission of life , the less usage of impossible in our brain will only increase the possibilities which are never ending. Indeed there are two wolves the bad and the good the more you feed the good will you be surrounded by good :) Brilliant special effects totally worth viewing in Imax. George Clooney is good as always but it is the child actors which steals the show, specially Raffey Cassidy playing the role of Athena and Britt Robertson playing the role of Casey Newton. Tomorrowland is a movie that runs on nostalgia , sometimes you have to visit your past for a closure for a better future. The movie has got a fairytale kinda feeling most importantly a positive feeling. The movie is totally worth the watch just not for George Clooney but for the mind boggling special effects and a good story with good performances. I quite liked the movie and surely recommend the same :)

Sarbjit - Worth A Watch

Based on the life of Sarabjit Singh,a farmer who crossed the border by a real stupid twist of fate and the bad times lasted till the end of his life. How he gets sucked into a legacy of hatred for no fault of his own is really heartbreaking.Life definitely was unfair to him and the distrust between India and Pakistan only helped in making his life more miserable. Randeep Hooda as Sarbjit is simply outstanding ,the gradual ageing process and the terrible torture borne by a battered body has been portrayed brilliantly by him, dont think any other actor could have portrayed the character so so well, he is an actor who deserves far more recognition than what he has already achieved Richa Chadda is brilliant as well ,she makes a solid impact. Aishwarya Rai is a bad choice for that a strong role and some real acting is required wonder why Omung Kumar did not cast Tabu or Vidya Balan or Rani Mukherjee or Swara Bhaskar, sorry didn't like her acting one bit , very superficial is all I can say. There is no entertainment but a true incident which is bound to move you and be thankful about your own life. Worth a watch for sure for the superb performances minus Ash. Recommeneded

Half Girlfriend - Highly Avoidable

Just wondering which is worse the book or the movie ,book I haven't read so no thoughts on that but the movie is awful surely. Its a silly regressive movie, not sure how much of the original story has been tweaked but whatever it is it is pathetic, this is not modern love but about two lunatic people. Unrealistic to the core,of course every cinema is entitled to its share of cinematic liberties but taking it to this level as shown in this movie is really obnoxious. The digital image of Bill Gates is just hilarious :) Director Mohit Suri's last movie was 2015 release 'Hamari Adhuri Kahaani' which was a bad movie so is this one. Both Shraddha Kapoor and Arjun Kapoor have sleepwalked through the movie. The actor who does a decent job is Vikrant Massey, even the good actress Seema Biswas seems pale. The much popular music is not really worth buying, just listen to it on gaana.com for free. Highly avoidable movie not recommended.

The Sense of an Ending - Life needs a closure

As much as we need to move on in our lives, but there are incidents from the past which can haunt us therefore a closure of certain chapters in life is much needed for us to move on peacefully. Based on the novel by the same name by author Julian Barnes this movie is an emotional journey with its share of bittersweet moments. The movie is a good watch for good performances and a decent story, but I would still prefer Ritesh Batra's 'The Lunchbox' any day. Do we ever really move on in our lives I guess time does it. Recommended

The Circle - Social Media : Boon or Bane

The movie is the mirror of the current social media scenario and the amount of people share and to which extent, unfortunately to the extent of costing another human's life. The more people make their personal life public the more it is exposed to flak which is uncalled for. The story is gripping with some good performances by Emma Watson,Tom Hanks and late Bill Paxton. Recommended for an interesting watch

Hindi Medium - Excellent movie

When any non Indian speaks not the perfect English we seem to be be perfectly ok with that but if the same error is done by us Indians then the dissection starts and the rest of the quality of the individual does not really matter thereafter. Wrong English spoken by Caucasians is fine but for the brown skinned Indians suddenly there erupts a Punjabi,Malayali,Bengali,Tamil accent respectively. Speaking wrong English is not a crime surely but most of us tend to make fun and get judgmental about the person. Agreed knowing English is a necessity for most of the career choices but to judge a person whose English is not perfect is really not the right thing to do. As much as we blame other countries for treating us badly, we actually are the biggest racists scrutinizing our own people to the core. I remember vividly during my school days(kvs/army schools), a lot of army officer's kids would not never play/talk/eat with kids whose fathers were not officers, guess the adults/parents in their lives are to be blamed. Sharing and caring, less is more they are just good English words if not followed in real. Its a great attempt by director Saket Chaudhary in depicting the social situation of our country and how important it is for a child to study in an English medium school. Irrfan Khan is really good as always but the actor that really stood out is Deepak Dobriyal, dare I say he stole the show :) Pakistani Actress Saba Qamar is lovely and natural to the core. Amrita Singh as the mean vicious school principal is superb. A great movie which should be watched by everyone :) Recommended

Posto (Bengali) - Powerful story clubbed with excellent performances

Life without emotions undoubtedly would be drab and monotonous and the pros and cons of it depends on the control we have on our emotions. If we to let go of our attachments life would be so much simpler but to let go and live a life of lesser and lesser attachment is a lifetime experience and not so easy. The movie is an emotional drama with life's bittersweet moments which is very real. The story has strong emotional content and because of the outstanding performances by the entire cast,it keeps the audience engaged with light moments and moments where one's eyes can get moist, such is life anyway :) The debate on tradition vs modernity is quite interesting and tug of war between parents and grandparents for the child is emotional to the core. It's a fact in today's racy world many a times grandparents are used as babysitters by working couples, the movie shows that aspect in the most real manner. Shantiniketan looks beautiful, great choice of location indeed. Arghya Basu Roy the child actor as Posto is the best, a live wire, abundant bundle of energy. Soumitra Chatterjee is outstanding ,stalwarts are like this I guess. Lily Chakraborty is excellent, she is a fabulous actress. Jishu Sengupta is very good Paran Bannerjee is superb, its a treat to watch him on the screen. Sohini Sengupta Halder as the fuming lawyer is another to look out for,she is real mean as the lawyer but a fantastic actress Mimi Chakraborty is just about ok. Another real good movie by director duo - Nandita Roy and Shibprasad Mukhopadhyay Recommended surely and the movie has English subtitles so not knowing Bengali won't matter.

Evelyn - Gem Of A Movie

Pierce Brosnan as much as he portrays as a suave ladies man in most of his movies, must say he played the role of Desmond Doyle who fought with the Irish government to have his children released back into his custody,as a result of which the law got reformed forever. The movie is about life's ups and downs and overcoming life's miseries. There are times when most of the worldly people might desert you but for the few good souls who stand by you come what may. The key is to have faith in yourself. Excellent movie not to be missed.

Sarkar 3 - Powerful

Just imagine the friends that you think are your closest confidantes are actually setting a trap for your downfall and getting a pleasure to see you fall while pretending how sad they are to see you in a bad situation, friends when not good are your worst enemies. The above para is what the 3rd part of Sarkar is all about and also gives you a glimpse what politics is all about , something we all are familiar and deal with it in our work life on a regular basis and if you are not careful chances of you getting killed at the workplace is inevitable and thats got nothing to do with one's capabilities but the dirty mind games others can play. The movie is powerful and bit too real. Amitabh Bachchan is superb but the actor who stole the show was Manoj Bajpayee. Actors Amit Sadh,Rohini Hattangadi,Ronit Roy all have done a fabulous job. Jackie Shroff is just about OK. Supriya Pathak is ailing. Yami Gautam is pale ,nothing to write about her acting. Ram Gopal Varma even Godfather stopped after part 3 ,hope the same is applicable to Sarkar series,no its not bad but we just had enough of Sarkar :) Recommended for the superb performances.

Patch Adams - Great Watch,Bollywood movie munnabhai mbbs was inspired from this one

Wow what a beautiful story about humanity and sheer belief in oneself and not budging from it ..we all want to live it up that way right with our dreams :) Loved this movie and yes every bit of it. This one is a complete uplifting movie, leaves such an amazing feeling in the heart and reinforces the fact yes there is so much more to life than the mundane things :) Robin Williams as always was just awesome. I did enjoy 'Munnabhai M.B.B.S' but sorry guys the original which is this one is way way better and a much simpler and realistic one :) Please watch it if you still haven't :) Recommended for sure :)

Bombay Velvet - Stylish Movie

More than anything else I was waiting to watch this one as this is one of the most sought out release of Ranbir Kapoor and having see his earlier performances I must say this is his one of his career best performances for sure, despite of his character being a rogue there lies innocence which is bound to make him likeable and his madness and crazy energy from start to finish is something to watch out for. Love the way he says 'Hello I am Johny Balraj, Nice To meet you :) Coming back to the movie this is a thriller the background being the Desi Manhattan my favorite city Mumbai, the dream city the foundation for it. Director Anurag Kashyap has created the film with a right mix of great performances and eye-catching visuals,he should be applauded for this one, love the focus on jazz music. While the first half of the movie builds up the characters and the story,it is in the second half the film's pace picks up with dramatic twists and turns, culminating it into quite an interesting climax. Anushka Sharma looks beautiful and has delivered a good performance apparently this movie was the reason she had got her lips reshaped to portray the role of jazz singer to the hilt, wonder what she should have done if she was to play the role of an opera singer :) Karan Johar is bound to stun you with his acting debut :) He is outstanding in a scene where he goes out of the room to laugh uncontrollably at Balraj's demands, the audience was chuckling along with him me including :) Satyadeep Misra is an actor to watch out for he has delivered a superb performance sometimes in fact outshines Ranbir Kapoor too. Kay Kay Menon is ok and yes actor Maneesh Chaudhary as the pro laborer reporter is quite good Two creative people deserve special mention the movie wouldn't be the same without their superb creativity: 1) Production designer Sonal Sawant for having created the 'Bombay' of the 1960's. The vintage cars, the buses, the trams, the roads, the building spare no efforts in transporting you in a different world altogether back to that era ..loved it. 2) Costume Designer Niharika Bhasin for the authentic costumes and taking care of the detailing so beautifully. This movie is a visual masterpiece from Bollywood and a must watch for all the lovers of art and its likes and of course for Ranbir Kapoor,Anushka Sharma,Karan Johar as well :) Go for it :) Paisa Vasool :)

Pelé: Birth of a Legend - Memorable movie

Edson Arantes do Nascimento or Pele as we know the legend, the greatest player of all time. Pelé is also credited with making the phrase "the beautiful game" synonymous with football and this brilliant movie is about him,his meteoric rise from the slums of Sao Paulo to leading Brazil to its first World Cup victory at the age of 17. The achievements of Pele are truly outstanding,he is the most successful league goal scorer in the world, with 541 league goals. In total Pelé scored 1281 goals in 1363 games, for which he was listed in the Guinness World Records for most career goals scored in football. In 1961, Brazil President Jânio Quadros had Pelé declared a national treasure.Pelé began playing for Santos at 15 and the Brazil national football team at 16. He won three FIFA World Cups: 1958, 1962 and 1970, the only player ever to do so. Brazilian football has always had a magical quality, what sets Brazil and its football apart from the rest? The answer is Ginga - an almost indefinable, mystical quality of movement and attitude possessed only by Brazilians and evident in everything they do. The way they walk, talk, dance and approach everything in their lives. I am a huge fan of Pele so this movie worked as great opportunity to see the journey of the boy who became the soul of the nation and the world, he is a great humanitarian too. A brilliant story, outstanding acting by the whole cast who kept the whole proceeding so real that it would inspire you for sure to believe in yourself and your dreams and never to lose hope and the undying faith which keeps us going in the adverse situations of our lives. Vincent D'Onofrio as the coach Feola is superb. Kevin de Paula as Pele is very good but the actor who really stands out is Seu Jorge who plays the role of Pele's dad. And yes there is a nice glimpse of the real legend himself in the movie :) The background score is done by India's pride A R Rahman and he has done an excellent job of it. Loved every bit of this pulsating inspiring movie. Whether you are a football fan or not , you got to watch this movie :) Recommended :)

Dear Dad - A Pleasant Watch

Heart-warming, simple with some not so sweet moments but realistic ones makes this one a very pleasant watch, the movie is shot very well , loved the scenic Dehradun and Mussorie. Arvind Swamy as the dad is simply superb so is the boy playing his son Himanshu Sharma. Bitter sweet moments makes life so does this movie. The subject of homosexuality is dealt very well without making a mockery of it. A sincere effort which needs to be watched. Recommended

Criminal - Good Thriller

A sleek, smart, action packed thriller with an excellent cast of some of the best actors like Kevin Costner,Gary Oldman,Tommy Lee Jones,Ryan Reynolds,Jordi Mollà,Gal Gadot makes this one an interesting watch. Some of the action scenes are bit too violent for my taste but nevertheless a well made edgy thriller. If action is your favorite genre, then this one is for you.

My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 - Complete Fun Ride :)

A feel good fun movie , the madness of Portokalos family is a total delight to watch. Nia Vardalos is good,John Corbett is as dashing as ever but the actors who really stand out are Michael Constantine(Gus) and Lainie Kazan (Maria) and yes Andrea Martin too as Aunt Voula, rest of the cast too is just apt. The family that sees no difference in hugging and suffocation and thinks thats what real affection is all about is surely going make you laugh loads :) I loved the first part and can see it again and again and was really looking forward to the sequel and must admit I enjoyed it very much and would love to watch it again :) Funny, entertaining and heart warming :) Recommended :)

Azhar - Good Watch

Based on the life of the former Indian international cricketer, Mohammad Azharuddin, this one is quite a well made biographical sports film. Everyone deserves a second chance in life so does Mohammed Azharuddin,so I am not going to judge him but surely the movie did hit the right chords. Emran Hashmi may not look like Azharuddin but he surely portrays the the spirit and pain that the beleaguered former Indian captain must have gone through in an excellent way, great acting by him indeed. Prachi Desai is quite a delight as the simple Naureen, I have loads of respect for Naureen the way she stood by Azhar in his most trying times of his life. Sangeeta Bijlani was never a good actress but was all about glamour so is Nargis Fakhri so apt choice here but Sangeeta Bijlani is far more prettier than Ms.Fakhri Lara Dutta as the lawyer is sleek and smart. Kunal Roy Kapoor as the Azhar's lawyer is quite good and adds to fun factor in the movie. This is Tony D'Souza's first directorial venture and he brilliantly captures the angst, the simplicity, the colossal success, the dual romance, and never ending struggle-to-clear-the-name of Indian cricket's heroic, yet arguably the most controversial captain Mohammad Azharuddin, full marks to him for that. Fact of life its always in the difficult times of our lives we get to see who our real friends and for every ten friends that betray us there is always one or two genuine friends who will stand by your side as well. And yes there always will be people feeling happy at your downfall specially when you have achieved success in life and suddenly there is a spate of bad time which has struck, their happiness knows no bounds to see you down and then there is something called Karma. A good movie by all means, a movie not to be missed :) Recommended :)

Ishaqzaade - Good watch

Quite an interesting and well made movie, the nuances of North India eastern UP to be precise captured very well somewhere the story starts from political rivalry and then moves towards a well etched love story , the doze of violence is a bit much but then again it goes well with this kinda storyline. Must say Parineeta Chopra is here to stay and Arjun Kapoor is quite decent too..loved Gauhar Khan's performance Worth A Watch for sure..
