Prisoners - Brilliant ...Masterpiece of a thriller

This is what you call a masterpiece of a suspense movie, one word brilliant. Despite of the length of the movie being two and half hours not for once does it let down in terms of suspense and thrilling moments. Definitely one of the seating on the edge kind of movie and a superb one at that with fantastic performances from every actor. The despair, the hope, the attitude of not giving up till the final goal is achieved is portrayed extremely well in this movie and surely will be etched in your memory. Hugh Jackman as the desperate father in anguish is simply mind blowing and yes even with his beard he looks hot :) Jake Gyllenhaal as the unassuming detective who is bound to solve the mystery gives another great performance. Rest of the cast which comprises of Terrence Howard,Maria Bello,Viola Davis,Paul Dano,Melissa Leo are simply fabulous. I am limiting myself in writing more about the story just in case I drop the clue and that would kill the suspense. So for this weekend this one is definitely the best release and one of the best suspense thrillers I have seen in a long time. Absolutely Recommended :) Have A Great Weekend :)

The Lunchbox - Outright Brilliant

The Lunchbox - An absolute gem of a movie add to that a great single screen theatre and company of good friends along with it , I surely couldn't have asked for a better movie watching experience Coming back to movie now it's a simple sweet story extremely well told with some amazing performances from Irfan Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui undoubtedly they are some of the best actors we have today and that makes us fortunate Nimrat Kaur must say was natural to the core and again effortless, the voice of the upstairs Aunty by Bharati Achrekar was superb. Loved the simple joys and regular incidents of our lives portrayed so beautifully which leaves a smile and lot of thoughts to ponder about Loved the scenes of dabbawalas every Mumbaikar I am sure can identify with it Life is what you sow you reap, you smile and the world will smile well most of the time. Awesome work by Director Ritesh Batra I am sure his best yet to come :) I am glad I am leaving Mumbai with a beautiful feeling ,of course to come back again Btw the puffs at Sterling theatre is awesome much better than any of snacks available at Inox and must say the theater is very well maintained Of course recommended there is no way you can miss this brilliant movie Awesome awesome

The Family (Malavita) - Enjoyable Fare

The presence of Robert De Niro and Michelle Pfeiffer was good enough to go and watch this movie. Robert De Niro is the Mafia boss who along with his family is transported to a not so happening town in France under the witness program, remember 2009 release 'Did You Hear About the Morgans? ' well that one had the charm of Hugh Grant and this one has the ever charming Robert De Niro and man does he still look Suave and yes the super hot Michelle Pfeiffer oh yes she still has what it takes apart from her good acting skills as well:) The pairing of Robert De Niro and Michelle Pfeiffer is something different yet quite appealing, their chemistry in an unusual manner does work quite well. Dianna Agron playing their daughter has done a very good job, loved the scene where she beats the shit out of a jerk of a guy who tries to act fresh with her :) Even at the risk of sounding a bit violent I really think boys/men who behave in an odd manner with women and tries to get close to women physically against the wishes of the women should be really beaten black and blue ,a lesson they should remember for the rest of their life ,not to ever behave with any woman in a cheap way. John D'Leo as the son is naughty yet adorable :) Tommy Lee Jones as the CIA Agent is quite likeable. Has good dose of humor which is bound to make you laugh every now and then. I thought this was a fun movie with good action towards the end. If you are looking for something different go for this one..Recommended

We're The Millers - Hilarious :)

Hilarious actually non stop laughter couldn't have been a better start to the Friday evening. Family is not always blood and the adage is proved right in this movie in its own dysfunctional and comical way. If left to the Indian Moral Police and Indian Culture caretakers the movie would have been full of beep beep and beep beep sounds so rest assured if you are allergic to those kind of words you are not going to enjoy this movie. But somewhere there is something very lovable about this movie , with all the madness there also lies a story of love, warmth, friendship. Jennifer Aniston is simply cool and she is just wow as the stripper. Jason Sudekis has done a good job and so has Emma Roberts and Will Poulter Do wait till the credits roll towards the end it does leave a smile behind apart from hilarious 1hr45mts of the movie Overall a complete fun ride and I enjoyed it thoroughly Recommended :)

Shuddh Desi Romance – A Fresh Whiff Of Air :)

The two famous questions which we all Indians ask without for even once thinking whether it’s appropriate to ask or not are as follows: 1) So when are you getting married ? Whatever answer you chose to give to that rest assured you will get a barrage of free unwanted advices from these over concerned well wishers like: - Please do something you are running out of time - Come on you can’t be so choosy - You must be very stubborn - Lower your expectations - You still did not manage to catch hold of anyone 2) (And if you happen to be married) So when are you guys planning a family /having children? Oh yes the advices to that are also humongous: - We know of this really good doctor we will pass on the details to you ( I have heard this from my married friends) - Some of them go too far to share their bedroom secrets as well ;) (Incredible I tell you all these info I have got courtesy my married friends :)) It time we realize just like for the ammunition industry to make profit and sustain some unwanted bloodshed in the name of war are required and the same also holds true the business of many match making organizations, the Florists, the Lehengamakers of Karol Bagh and the many other business which runs due to ‘Marriages’. But having said the above yes the ammunition is needed to safeguard any nation and the marriage for companionship should happen only when two individuals want to be together but not to please people who have minute or no contribution in one’s life or please anyone for that matter. While I was watching the movie the above mentioned thoughts were crossing my mind almost all the time :) This movie does not follow the usual format of a Bollywood romantic but kind of contradicts and promotes live in relationship in a very own sweet desi way , the last movie on live in relationship was 2005 release ‘Salaam Namaste’ but then that was based in Australia and then this one is set in our Incredible India full of double standards and in Jaipur –Rajasthan so for that it is definitely a bold step. The story is about three young people and their experiment with relationships and not exactly following the society’s prescribed syllabus .The depiction of relationship of today’s generation is quite well captured. I never understood one thing why is marriage connected to the final settlement of life :) Yes everyone is looking for companionship so why put a timeline to it and so many rules and regulations to it specially when those individuals are not causing any sort of harm to the society or anyone for that matter. Many might find this movie of sluggish pace but because the narrative format is quite different I thought it was good something unusual isn’t movie making also an experimentation.. Sushant Singh Rajput is really good but in few scenes I felt he was just walking through or maybe his counterparts were just quite above the notch, but one thing portrays quite well and that is he is like this puppy who is running around for love :) one small signal from the opposite sex and there he goes running behind his true love :) Parineeti Chopra is superb as this carefree bindaas girl and I hope in her next movie she gets out of her comfort zone and experiments with a different kind of character. Vaani Kapoor is drop dead gorgeous but her character kind of puzzled me but then it takes all sorts to make this world go round ;) Rishi Kapoor like an excellent wine is only getting better with age :) BTW if you are confused on the D-Day of your life visit the bathroom just before you say ‘I Do’ and you will get the right answer :). This movie definitely has a fresh approach and a nice message which may or may be not liked given the subject of live in and the attitude towards live in relationships most of the people have in this country. But the Friday collections of this movie are pretty positive and maybe it’s an indication times are changing :) Recommended :)

Satyagraha - Worth A Watch specially for AB Senior :)

Not sure why I had thought the presence of songs would dilute the seriousness of the subject of the movie and I am glad my thoughts were proved wrong. Scams and corruption unfortunately have become a part of our lives, a harsh reality which we deal with on a regular basis and the movie showcases this problem/disease extremely well. We are so tempted to always take the short cut route that altogether we miss out on the big picture and get totally absorbed in our shelved lives without realizing much about the repercussions that each of our steps would have in this society. Prakash Jha's last release though a well made movie had got the plot mishmash post interval and was happy he did not do the same with this movie. Of course the plot is inspired from the movement of Anna Hazare there is no denial to that absolutely. Amitabh Bacchan - there never will be another one like him, he is definitely is India's pride. The scene when he breaks down when he realizes his son was killed surely going to turn your eyes moist.. Ajay Devgan - Give this guy an intense role and he will never disappoint, yes he does a good job...great to see him in this kind of role instead of disaster like 'Himmatwala' Kareena Kapoor Khan - Post 'Talaash' this is another good performance from her and as always she looks fab. Arjun Rampal - Ya he looks yes he can emote/act but for this particular role he didn't quite fit and his accent was too metro sexual , no I am not complaining I like him in anyway and always will watch his movies Manoj Bajpayee- Wow what an awesome portrayal of vicious and sadistic character core, flaunting the evil streak to the optimum. Here's another power-packed performance by this splendid actor. Amrita Rao - Something very likeable about her,an absolute pleasure to watch. All the other character actors too have done a great job be it Indraneil Sengupta, Vipin Sharma , Manoj Kolhatkar, Shireesh Sharma, Ajay Trehan or Girish Sahdev. This one is a thought provoking movie and absolutely recommended. All in all August 2013 had good Hindi movie releases except for Once upon a time in Mumbai dobara yes this was the worst Hindi movie I have watched in the recent times... Please do watch 'Satyagraha' for a story well told, for great performances and of course of course for Amitabh Bachhan :)
