The Rum Diary

The Rum Diary - Based on the life of American Journalist Paul Kemp this movie is set in the early 60's in Puerto Rico where there always is a turmoil going on between the local island people and the expats (Americans here). It was quite interesting to see the struggle among people who are constantly in the self destruction mode. Its not a straight simple movie for sure you have to feel the undercurrents and it kind of gives you a feeling danger is lurking around the corner somewhere.Johnny Depp I thought was awesome and loved his performance in this one and he is looking very young in this movie for sure :) I quite liked it

In Time - Interesting

In Time - Now this movie's subject and theme had something totally new to offer an extremely interesting concept which is unheard of imagine a time where people stop aging at 25, but are engineered to live only one more year, having the means to buy your way out of the situation is a shot at immortal youth. So you exchange your the time meant for your life for everything that you would like to possess/eat/drink..super cool concept isn't it ..ya its a pure work of fiction and if you look at it that way 100% chances are there that you will surely enjoy this movie :)

Dolphin Tale - Beautiful Movie

Dolphin Tale - Very inspiring very positive the kind of movie I can recommend it to any age group any point of time. This movie is based on a true incident about a lonely and friendless boy finds and untangles a hurt dolphin that is caught in a crab trap. The boy becomes very attached to the dolphin when the tail must be taken off to save the dolphin's life. The boy believes the dolphin would be ab...le to swim normally if it was given a prosthetic tail and rest of the story is about his struggle and triumph in achieving the same. This one is a simply brilliant story extremely well narrated given the boundaries of its simplicity. Both the child actors are great.Ashley Judd is pleasant.Morgan Freeman yet again proves the length of the role is inconsequential this guy just has to rant few lines and he has your attention completely and keeps you pining for more.A must watch I would undoubtedly term this one as my best watch this weekend.Go for it...Don't miss this one ...

The Adventures of Tintin - Don't Miss It Anything For Anything In The World

The Adventures of Tintin - As much as I was looking forward to this one must say I completely enjoyed it and it was totally worth the anticipation and the wait. The animation is of first rate totally spectacular.I have read ample Tintin comics and given an opportunity would still read them provided I can take out time from my movie watching :) The movie is as gripping as the books and must say not a single dull moment in the movie it keeps you asking for more.Tintin,Snowy,Thomson twins and Haddocks and his blistering barnacles are here to stay :) Don't miss this for anything in the world :) I mean it :)

Rocstar - Awesome

Rockstar - This is an unconventional love story much above the conventional right and wrong of the society but what makes this movie totally worth it is the presence of Ranbir Kapoor he really is the real rockstar the whole metamorphosis from Janardan to Jordan can't think of any actor of his generation who could have done this role this well and take it to another level and what I loved the most ...was that despite of all the changes there was a bit of Janardan still left in him and boy does he look good just couldn’t take my eyes from him for a single moment ;) Nargis Fakhri the new discovery comes with a whiff of fresh air she is sweet ,sexy and there is something very vulnerable about her which makes her all the more appealing must say she is a complete stunner.Shernaz Patel is damn good so is the actor who plays the role of Ranbir’s manager is just brilliant. Must give it to Imtiaz Khan on coming up with a subject of this sort and handling it quite well. Filmmaking is an art and it should be experimented in its various forms and I am glad we have some people who does not get stuck to monotonous masala way of entertainment Imtiaz Khan is one such guy and we are blessed . Music is fabulous of course by the Maestro AR Rahman. The chemistry between Ranbir and Nargis completely rocks and is a treat to see them when they realize their true feelings for each other.
I would surely recommend this one

Happy Feet Two (3D) - Nice One

Happy Feet Two (3D) - Must say no one can beat the animated movies produced from Hollywood each of them are different and the 3D effects seem to be only getting better with each year. This one is a real cute movie with superb 3D effects apart from the penguins there are Krills with the voiceovers s from Matt Damon and Brad Pitt which gives an interesting angle to this story of self recognition, self importance and self acceptance, quite inspiring.I quite liked it and would recommend the same let the child in you unleash once in a way and enjoy the simple pleasures which life has to offer :)

The Help - A Must Watch

The Help - Based on the novel by Kathryn Stockett this a beautiful story set in the early 60s where civil rights movement was at its peak and the new era of equality was not far behind and the struggle before the triumph there are joys and tears both in the movie overall a great movie just loved it,with exceptional performances by Viola Davis, Emma Stone, Octavia Spencer, Bryce Dallas Howard and Allison Janney. Veteran actresses Sissy Spacek and Cicely Tyson.A Must Watch.

One Day - Nice Romantic Drama

One Day - Based on a novel by David Nichol this is a beautiful love story with its sad as well as uplifting moments, it spans from 1988 to 2011 unfolding the love story in its utmost special way. Both Anne Hathway and Jim Sturgess are just awesome and their chemistry surely does work which is the most essential factor for any love story.Nice romantic movie.Recommended.

The Ides Of March - Interesting

The Ides Of March - This political thriller probes into the dark and dirty world of politics, the games people play to get ahead and that I think is just not limited to politics but in every sphere of our lives be it professional or personal.Excellent performances by Ryan Gosling,Philip Seymor Hoffman,Evan Rachel Wood,Paul Giamati,Marissa Tomei and George Clooney of course but the maximum points I would award to Ryan Gosling he really does the carry the movie on his shoulder. So no light fluffy

stuff here but an interesting movie for sure..

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 - Cheesy

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Part 1 - This is one masala flick from Hollywood which reminded me of Bollywood big time I must say :) Very cheesy I am sure the book isn't like this though I must admit I haven't read the book but still I am assured the book is much better. And this one is coming from a Director who has made movies like ‘Dreamgirls’ and ‘Kinsey’ well I guess it’s ok to take creativity to another level. So if you have been watching the ‘Twilight’ series of movies then I suggest go for it and yes despite of written what I have written I am waiting for the part 2 to release in November 2012 ;)

Desi Boyz - Entertaining

Desi Boyz – I was mentally prepared to watch some extreme senseless madness, crass humor, glorification of male strippers and of course the hot combination of Akshay Kumar ,Chitrangada Singh, John Abraham and Deepika Padukone but to be honest I was actually quite surprised with a movie which is not bad when I compare it to the umpteenth masala flicks that gets churned out of Bollywood week after w...eek, must say the last two months of the year 2011 would turn out the best for Bollywood like the first two months of year 2011 (Jan and Feb 2011 did have some good Hindi movie releases for sure).
This one is a complete feel good comedy far away from reality of course but then what the hell that’s what movies are supposed to do take you away from the humdrum and reality of life
Akshay Kumar was really good in terms of acting apart from looking super good it was really great to see him in a good form after a long time.
John Abraham is super hot and acting is ok too
Deepika Padukone awesome just love this Bangalore girl
Chitrangada Singh please come in movies often she is fabulous
Last but not the least welcome Director Rohit Dhawan its all in the family I guess (he is son of director – David Dhawan)
Music is hummable so I would recommend this one rest assured you will not get bored for sure and won’t demand your money back

The Muppets

The Muppets - I was quite a follower of this show during school days and this movie brought back those memories ,this one is extremely entertaining and adorable movie about the muppets reuniting for a big show and regain the muppet theater,it was a sheer delight to watch all the muppets from different corners of their life getting together for the same goal. All you muppet lovers please don't miss this movie this is one of a kind.Enjoyed it thoroughly :)

The Dirty Picture - Not Dirty but Sultry and Sexy :)

The Dirty Picture - Nothing dirty about it but everything sultry, sexy with a real good story and fantastic performances.Vidya Balan 10/10 for the most awesomest performance Girl you deserve a standing ovation and now I can surely see Vidya in the league of Smita Patil,Shabana Azmi I have always liked her now I just love her for a portrayal so fantastic and taking up a role which requires whole lot... of courage and guts in a society where everyone is obsessed with this quintessential image of good girl..way to go Vidya Balan proud of you..you are just brilliant thank God we have a Vidya Balan :)
Amazingly well written story by Rajat Arora and the dialogues are superb
Milan Luthria please make more of these kind of movies.
Ekta Kapoor & Shobha Kapoor - All your 3rd rate TV serials could be overlooked when you produce movies of this stature...Keep the money rolling for these kind of movies :)
Naseeruddin Shah - Awesome portrayal of a bastard of an old superstar only great acting can get the audience hating a character this way,so you were superb so what if I wanted to slap your character really hard on his face and break his

bones :)
Tushhar - Good portrayal of a slimeball character who has no spine at all
Emran Hashmi - You are not bad for sure :)
Anju Mahendroo - Loved her portrayal of the bitch of a journalist she was fabulous there is still something very sexy about her ..
Real good movie don't miss it oh yes not meant for kids.
Oooh la la it is my friends :)

Puss in Boots

Puss in Boots - Extremely entertaining movie from Dreamworks.Puss in Boots has been my favorite character since childhood and seeing a full fledged movie dedicated on him apart from the Shrek series is sheer joy to watch and there is a bit of other popular fairytale characters as well like that of Humpty Dumpty and a yes there is a bit of the Beanstalk story thrown into but overall a real good result.
And the voice overs by Antonio Banderas and Salma Hayek are just excellent what a sexy combination couldn't have been better choices for the voice overs for sure.Fantastic Animation.Recommended :)

Aarakshan - Worth A Watch For Sure..A Noble Subject And There Is Nothing Objectionable Trust Me...

I am seriously confused why would any section of our society would object to this well made movie handling a noble subject which is education is the fundamental right for all coming from any sphere of society.

This movie if watched with the right mindset definitely kindles the India spirit and tells us to bring about a change possible within our best abilities and instead of mere discussion lets get into action whenever there's an opportunity available and what better weekend to watch this kind of awe inspiring about nation development movie than the Independence Day weekend.

Yes the movie does explore the reservation system in India for the Scheduled Castes and Tribes and Other Backward Castes but in a very generic way without really running down either sect. But the main focus does not lie there the film actually takes on the education system ,it exposes discriminatory aspects of the system and hypocrisy in private and governmental educational institutes in the country and does a damn good job at that.

Have to give it to Prakash Jha for always coming up with a winner in terms of socially relevant movies be it Damul dealing about bonded laborMrityudand on gender inequity,Gangajal based on a true incident in Bhagalpur,Apharan on the abduction situation in Bihar,Rajneeti dealing with political affairs and yet again he has got a winner in hands with this one (Aarakshan).

It is a fact we believe in equal rights for all and yet, we continue to be a caste-based society.

Performance wise everyone(Amitabh Bacchan,Saif Ali Khan,Tanvi Azmi,Prateik Babbar,Yashpal Sharma,Deepika Padukone,Manoj Bajpai)has managed to give stellar performances but AB Baby rocks and totally stands out seriously his performance deserves a standing ovation and yes he is the best example of age is just a number..Man he seems to be getting better by day I am sure his best is yet to come.Eyes got moist in many a scenes with him.

This one is about grit, determination, love, friendship and most importantly about standing for what you believe and not giving up on it come what may.

Dialogues are brilliant in this movie totally shakes you up and inspires you.

'Be the change you want to see in this world’ is the core message of this movie and trust me they couldn't have conveyed in any better way.

This one is daring, heroic engaging movie which should not be missed.

Don't miss it...

Chillar Party - Real nice enjoyable very good storyline one movie both adult and children will like alike :)

The movie ratings in Times Of India amazes me at times I am really very upset with them that they give this movie such a bad rating this one deserves a good round of applause for being an honest good children's movie from which us adults too can derive a lesson or two about friendship and many a things which we just throw out of our lives or take the mode of ignorance is bliss ....

Like 'Stanley Ka Dubba' this has a certain fresh whiff of air with respect to the genre of children's movie.

This story is about a bunch of kids read adorable here trying to save the life of a street dog and yes a child too of their age group.

Loved the story very honest and yes there are cinematic liberties taken in bits and patches but if you ask me that is completely ok and adds that required punch to the story.

I would surely recommend this one.

Larry Crowne - Nice romantic comedy in its own pace not too mushy which is good

A nice little romantic comedy taking place in its own pace and yes Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts giving that extra edge so if you like romantic comedies you will surely like this one it definitely has got a feel good factor to it.

So the story goes something like this Larry Crowne(Tom Hanks) gets fired from his job as a part restructuring of organization though he is a super employee and the reason given to him is that he has never gone to college and that thought kind of stays with him and the next thing you know is he is enrolled himself in the college and that's where the fun begins him having a crush on the attractive professor(Julia Roberts) and he getting along with the young group of guys and girls going for scooter rides etc.

I am a big fan of romantic comedies and on that you throw two dynamic actors good enough reasons for me enjoy the same all the more.I won't say this movie has Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts at their best but nevertheless its a sheer pleasure to watch them for sure :)

Bbuddah... Hoga Tera Baap - AB rocks totally :) Must watch for Amitabh Bacchan Fans

Bbuddha Hoga Tera Baap - Amitabh Bacchan is one actor no matter what age in terms of number he reaches his style of work can only get better and each time he does not fail to surprise you with awesome and varied performances one person for whom age is just a number so in terms of story this is just about alright but it AB Senior who has rocked the movie and yes Hema Malini with her gracious presence oh yeah liked Sonu Sood too this guy is actually quite good loads of potential to become a great star.Raveena Tandon was ravishing as usual have always liked her.

Prakash Raj the main villain was quite irritating for sure.

This one is a short movie ...watchable all the more if you are AB fan.

They don't make like him anymore for sure :)

Delhi Belly - A Must Watch For All Adults :)

Thank God for once the Censor has given an A certificate without any cuts and there were no irritating beeps to mute the language which is actually part and parcel of our lives.
This is a path breaking Hindi movie for sure one of a kind first of its kind and yes totally new age cinema and reaffirms yes Hindi Cinema is evolving like rest of the world cinemas.
So the scenario is something like this there are three friends staying together in dilapidated house somehow trying to get through life each with their own set of challenges to deal with like awful boss, irritating girlfriend etc.etc. and then one incident suddenly life turns upside down and the already catchy songs are very well placed in this well paced movie.
Like 'Pyar Ka Panchnama'this is predominantly a boy's movie but whole lot of fun movie for sure and I methinks like chick flicks boy's movies too are loads of fun.
Coming to performances must say the chemistry between the three actors is what makes the script come alive.
Coming to performances I think this is Imran Khan's best performance till date,Vir Das is fantastic so is Kunal Roy Kapoor,Shenaz Treasury is about OK.Poorna Jagannathan is superb she is real sexy and have to mention the awesome performances by both Paresh Ganatra and Rahul Singh.
Its a must watch for all adults :) Don't miss it.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon - What a movie totally mindblowing strictly for theater viewing :) Recommended

Honestly I am not a fan of Transformer series of movie but this one blew my mind away I was totally absorbed in it I literally had to stop myself from clapping at this awesome action packed fun filled movie enjoyed every bit of it.

Loved the way the cars were transforming into huge Transformers and like life and people there are good and bad among Transformers too and that is the subject of this movie and the storyline and what gives that extra edge are the visuals of course, how well the transformers integrate into the real-life footage to make a compelling action sequence and make a sight to watch..brilliant is all I can say.

Shia LaBeouf is cute and does a good job and Rosie is super hot can't speak much about her acting skills :) the guy who took away my heart was Josh Duhamel just love that guy my heart skips a beat every time I see him :),Patrick Dempsey is dishy and good as usual, liked the performances by Frances McDormand and John Turtarro.

Worth a watch for sure recommended and I can guarantee you won't regret.

Have A Great Weekend :)

Cars 2 - Loads of fun and entertaining and out of the world animation..worth a watch for sure

Cars the first part released in 2006 was the first of a kind with Cars getting a new lease of life and just not treated as mere piece of machines and also showing us the true meaning of friendship and relationships.

Cars 2 takes us to a different level all together with star race car Lightning McQueen and his pal Mater head overseas to compete in the World Grand Prix race spread across Tokyo,Paris and then in a very interesting manner Mater gets caught up in an intriguing adventure of his own an international espionage and that is real fun to watch and had me laughing no end and of course all is well that ends well .

The animation is just out of the world loved every bit of it recommended for sure :)

Pyaar Ka Punchnama - I am so glad I decided to watch this one this was the best movie of this weekend for sure :)

I am glad there are bunch of new directors who are bringing with them a whiff of fresh air and gives cinema watching a total new meaning all together and yes makes the trip to the movie hall totally worth it.

This movie is very new age and very close to reality and can be related to the youth of today,no wonder though the movie has released last month its still running to packed houses and that speaks volumes about the content of the movie which has no acclaimed actors but new bunch of talent which entertains you to the core :)

The story revolves around three characters they are friends and flatmates - Vikrant/Choudhary(Raayo Bakhirta - Dude where were you hiding all these while,he is one sexy guy to watch out for),Nishant(Divyendu Sharma) and Rajat/Rajjo(Karthikeya Tiwari) and then they fall in love with three manipulative horrible bitches in the skin of cool babes.

These kind of girls/women are the worst kind who knows only how to use people to their advantage and yes guys the most with their so called sex appeal.

There is this particular scene where one of the girl makes her boyfriend pay the spa bill under the pretension

Loved the scene where the guy leaves her horrendous bitch of a girlfriend - there was a round of applause in the theater and yes I clapped too :)

Guys/Men are going to love this movie and honestly I did too :)

Watch it if you still haven't...

Bheja Fry 2 - Of course not better than part 1 but still a decent watch for sure

Edit
Bheja Fry 2 - Of course not better than part 1 but still a decent watch for sure
by Rimi Das on Saturday, June 18, 2011 at 7:27pm

I was definitely looking forward to this having loved the first part and love Vinay Pathak the actor but Sagar Bellary the director has failed for sure.

When it comes to attempting original story and script, bollywood directors always seem to fail miserably except for the handful few and really handful few and thats really a shame I would say for such a big country.

Bheja Fry 1 was direct lift of the French movie and Sagar Bellary got the core theme for the humor from the french movie which he nicely adapted to Indian situations so it was extremely well accepted by the public but in Bheja Fry 2 he tried to attempt his own original ideas( if this was his original ) and it didn't work but having said that I would only recommend this movie for the great actor - Vinay Pathak and yes Kay Kay is good too..

I can't believe our Bollywood Directors can't come up with great original ideas of their own it is quite shocking for sure and very disappointing no I am not talking about this movie but the trend in general among the Bollywood Directors..

Shaitan - Brilliant movie ...not to be missed at any cost...and of course its not meant for kids (below 18)

Shaitan tells us the story of five youngsters based in Mumbai who lead erratic irresponsible reckless lives.Amy [Kalki], Dash [Gulshan], KC [Shiv], Zubin [Neil] and Tanya [Kirti] -- young, intelligent, good looking and 'uber cool with no hang ups whatsoever and no boundaries, excitement is what they seek till a moment changes everything. A horrendous accident and their actions to cover up lead them through a series of incidents across the roads, streets and bylanes of Mumbai and into the dark side that lurks within all of us.

And yes giving this movie the extra edge there is Inspector Mathur [Rajeev Khandelwal], entrusted with the task of chasing these youngsters down, exposes the underbelly of the police system and crime while facing his inner demon(shaitan) as well

Sometimes I wonder and even wondered during my college how a certain section of youth waste their parents money without even giving a second blink and I think such people caught committing heinous crimes should be severely punished without any sort of sympathy be it a boy or a girl but unfortunately parents being parents become overprotective and does not allow the law to do its own course of duty and the power of money lets these criminals get away with their crime.

I am glad this movie showed no sympathy towards such mislead youth and hit the nails where its supposed to be hit.

Watching this movie is an experience as this is one of a kind and really sets you thinking and yes not a dull moment in this movie during the duration of 2 hour 7 minutes.

Coming to performances - Rajeev Khandelwal, playing a cop who's fighting his inner demons, nails the role, giving a tight, focused performance he should be doing more and more movies not that jerk Abishek Bacchan. Kalki is excellent. . Neil Bhoopalam is fantastic why are these guys seen in movies so rarely. Shiv Pandit is good . Kirti Kulhari is superb . Gulshan Deviah is top notch. The peculiar behavior comes across very well in several sequences. Rajat Barmecha appears in an interesting cameo and has brief but a very important contribution towards this movie.Pavan Malhotra is awesome. Rajit Kapur is good. Nikhil Chinnappa I though was too good. Rukhsar was apt. Rajkumar Yadav gives yet another great performance.

I don't remember any commercial successful Hindi film where I have praised so many actor/actress's performance in the same breath..

Don't miss this one.....

West Is West - Sequel to 1999 hit East is East is a great mix of emotion and comedy..Worth A Watch

I remember having a good laugh when I had watched 'East is East' in 2000 and after a decade the sequel comes with loads of fun yes and equal amount of emotions too.

Somewhere the message of 'Make peace with your past so it won't destroy your present' comes out very well in this movie with Om Puri's character visiting Pakistan and facing the demons of his past i.e. his wife and three daughters whom he had left 30 years ago to make a life in England and married an English woman there and set up another family there but somewhere guilt killed him so in the purview of getting his youngest son back in track he sets to Pakistan only to amend all the wrong doings and lessen the pain he had caused many years back.

And finally after a humorous incident and emotional turmoil alls well that ends well.

Be it Om Puri or Ila Arun or Lind Bassett or Vijay Raaz or any other actor in this movie everyone has excelled in this movie in terms of performances and the rustic country side of Pakistan shot in Punjab is beautifully portrayed.

Worth a watch for sure...if not in the big screen you can get the DVD

X-Men: First Class - Truly First Class ...This one has superceded all the X-Men series made earlier..A Must Watch

This movie starts before Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr took the names Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers for the first time. Before they were archenemies, they were closest of friends, working together, with other Mutants.

The movie is the best example how the 5th installment and the 5th part can outshine the last 4 movies of the X-Men series...this one is simply mind blowing I loved it loved every bit of it.

This is an exceptional "flashback" look that links the X-Men series of movies that have released earlier so you can see this one and start watching the rest of the X-Men series and that probably would give you a better understanding.

Loved the performance by the entire cast and the cinematography is simply brilliant..

I think this is undoubtedly the best movie released for this year so far ...

Don't miss this one at any cost...

Hanna - fast paced real smart thriller with damn interesting twists and turns..worth a watch for sure...

Its one of those amazing movies where you go expecting a smart sleek thriller and then it surprises you with these really interesting twists and turns and keeps you on your toes.

Hanna as the name suggests is a story of this amazing and special girl with a name that of the title of the movie.Saoirse Ronan portraying the title has done an amazing job of the girl with special abilities and born to complete a special mission in this world she is just getting better and better with every movie ...loved her in 'The Way Back' released last year.

Cate Blanchett was fantastic as the ruthless agent ...not sure if this movie would be considered one of Eric Bana's best after his brilliant 'Munich' or even the memorable ones like'The Other Boleyn Girl' or 'Hulk' yes he looks great for sure.

Visually the movie is absolutely stunning..Not letting the story out watch it and enjoy the experience.

Something Borrowed - This one is for the rom com fans ..And yes love is more important than friends who treat u like dirt :)

Based on the novel by Emily Giffin of the same name ,this movie is surely for the romantic comedy fans so not really candy floss but definitely mushy and has a damn nice feel good kinda feeling and a great chick flick :)

The storyline is not really predictable as much as much some of the critics have claimed the same, though initially when I had seen the trailers I thought maybe it was another version of 'My Best Friends Wedding' but no this one is quite refreshing and has no resemblance with 'My Best Friends Wedding' for sure.

I had not read the novel so went to see the movie with an open mind and I am glad I did that.

The movie is fun and totally entertaining loved the performances of all the four main characters - Ginnifer Goodwin,Kate Hudson,John Krasinki(loved him totally),Colin Egglesfield

This one is a pleasant romantic comedy totally pleasing to the eyes and ears and honestly I quite enjoyed it my kinda movie for sure :)

The Hangover Part II - Hilarious to the core..haven't laughed like this continously for a long time now :) Watch It Suerely :)

The wolfpack is back and back with loads of fun, twists and turns and peals of laughter, totally messed up and totally crazy I loved every bit of it and so did the audience.

Avoid the so called critics negative reviews this one is here to entertain you to the core that you will probably actually wonder why did the critic ever write such negative reviews at the first place.

Among the Hollywood releases this year so far I would surely rate this one the best one under the comic category. And Bangkok my dear can be equally fun or more than Las Vegas like what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas likewise what happens in Bangkok stays in Bangkok too :)

The movie has loads of humor in all shapes and sizes and yes there is bit of nudity too ya so please keep the kids at bay and let them enjoy Kung Fu Panda 2 instead :)

So the plot in brief - its Stu's (Ed Helm) wedding this time and yes you have guessed it right the venue is of course the Amazing Thailand and the night before the ceremony, the guys decide to go out for a drink, and take the brides' young teenage brother, Teddy and hell breaks loose after that...the next morning they wake up in seedy hotel room in Bangkok city far away from their resort - venue of the wedding and well what happens next is a roller coaster ride for you to find out and me to think and laugh about it :)

Recommended Recommended Recommended Recommended Recommended Recommended Recommended Recommended :)

Kung Fu Panda 2 - If you have liked the part one there is no two way that you are not going to like this one immensely :)

I would really not like to compare Kung Fu Panda part 1 with part 2 but having said that I think I have enjoyed watching them both immensely and its been worth every penny.

I witnessed the whole theater whistling with the entry of Po the cutest Panda ever and there were roars of laughter and loads of applause every now and then which speaks volumes about how much the audience was enjoying and yes of course me included in that :)

There is something extremely magical and mysterious about the Oriental land and this movie though animated brings out those charming qualities really well in terms of the content as well as the visuals and the movie is full of fun sequences and loads of witty one liners which keeps you rolling in laughter.

The animation with the 3D effects is just superb trust me the heavy 3D glasses can be a bit painful and maybe leave a mark on your nose for a short time but trust me all you will forget all the pain when you watch the brilliant 3D effects of this movie.

The story this time somewhere touches your right chords and has a feel good bit about it as well..

So what are you waiting for book the tickets and get going :)

Priceless(Hors De Prix) - The movie indeed is priceless :)

French movies have a certain aura about themselves a something special a something original and fresh to the core and this movie just proves it so right.

The story in short is about a gold digger who mistakenly woos a mild-mannered bartender thinking he's a wealthy suitor as simple and predictable it might sound with it twist, turns and pleasant surprises this movie sure is a romantic roller coaster ride and quite a playful one at that :)

Audrey Tautou as Irene the Gold digger moving from one elderly man to another is superb her dream of seducing one elderly man for marriage comes closer but for the uncontrollable one night stand she has with an younger man mars her marriage plans as well as haute fashion label dropping, living the high life in expensive hotel suites, for free.

An awesome movie not to be missed loved it :)

404 - Extremely interesting ..Fantastic Psychological Thriller..Worth A Watch...Recommended For Sure

Honestly this movie wasn't really there in my agenda to watch this weekend but the good review and an interesting ensemble cast that of Imaad Shah,Tisca Chopra and Nishikant Kamat somewhere told me this is one movie I should not miss at all and my intuition proved me so right I am glad :)
This one real interesting psychological thriller dealing with the paranormal activity and the games minds play to prove their respective theories right so yes it does have its share of thrills and chills but I would not categorize this under horror movies genre but psychological thriller yes and a really good and interesting one at that loved every bit of it.
Telling more about the story would be giving away the story therefore I would restrain myself on doing that.
Get ready to psych your mind!

Kashmakash (Naukadubi in Bengali)- Lyrical..Like a poetry flowing in its own pace with no hurry :)

This is one among the several movies I was waiting to watch for the following reasons:

1)Based on Rabindranath Tagore's short story'Naukadubi'

2) Rituparno Ghosh's direction

3)Both the sisters Riya and Raima in the same movie of course the latter being one of my favorite actress

Having mentioned the above reasons it was not easy to watch this movie as the shows were too late but thanks to a friend who wanted to watch this movie and my desire to watch this movie in the theater was fulfilled :)

The fact that the story belonged to Rabindranath Tagore had created enough interest for me for quite sometime to watch this movie directed by a director that of a caliber of Rituparno Ghosh took the interest to another higher level altogether and yes I was not disappointed a bit and having seen Rituparno's earlier movie I kind of knew the movie would be anything but far away from fast paced and flow like a beautiful lyrical poetry instead.

The story is set in year 1921 where the romantic realtionship between Kolkata-based law student Ramesh(Jishu Sengupta) and his friend's sister Hemnalini(Raima Sen) gets into troubled waters when Ramesh is ordered to visit his village by his father and thereafter to find out that his father has arranged his marriage to Susheela, the daughter of a poor and helpless widow. Ramesh becomes outrageous and refuses to accept the proposal outright and tells his father clearly that his heart already belongs to someone else and is on the verge of storming out… when the widow, stops him and pleads him,her pleas soften his heart and Ramesh agrees to wed Susheela, but of course with a heavy heart. The wedding ceremony takes place and Ramesh leaves his village in a boat alongside with his newly wed wife Susheela for Kolkata…

And then their ill fated boat gets capsized in the rough waters during a fierce storm....

Ramesh finds himself washed ashore with Susheela passed out by his side, when he wakes up. Ramesh gets her home and the duo attempt to set house with Ramesh's inhibitions becoming quite visible. But soon Ramesh realizes that the nubile nymphet he has brought home isn't Susheela… but Kamla(Riya Sen) who was supposed to be getting married to a Doctor from Varanasi (Kashi then) and Ramesh of course gets set to unite Kamla with her real husband and at the same time commits to marry the love of his life Hemnalini but truth does not remain hidden for a long time and the marital development of Ramesh comes out in the open much to everyone's dismal and Hemnalini becomes heartbroken completely and Ramesh to avoid any sort of scandal gets away to Gorakhpur with Kamla..

While they were settling in Gorakhpur and Hemnalini was coming in terms with her grief in Varanasi as everyone thinks and believes change of scenery might mend the heart but that is never the solution really ..

And then accidentally Kamla discovers the truth as she stumbles upon the newspaper advertisement which Ramesh has advertised. Unable to handle the fact that she's been living a marital lie, Kamla walks out of the house determined to drown herself in the river.

But all is well that end wells and I am not letting rest of the story out it would be unfair to this piece of art...

Performance wise I was very sure about good performances from rest of the cast except for Riya Sen but she really turned out to be the surprise package giving an equally great performance such as her talented sister.

If you are a cinema love I would go indulge yourself leisurely in this one of a kind cinema...

Ragini MMS - Scary to the core ..get ready for nightmare and some real good thrills and super haunting moments

I have this peculiar habit in me though I am dead scared of the paranormal world but nothing in the world can deter me from watching the most scariest movies of this genre you could call it thrills of my life I guess :)

So coming to the story of this movie initially the movie starts like a bit of B grade movie with filthy language and everything focused on sex but gradually as the movie proceeds the chills and thrills really overpowers the sex bit rather there is no scope of sex among the thrilling and chilling and haunting moments :)

After I came back that evening post watching this movie it took me sometime to come out of the fearsome atmosphere and the thought of it still gives me goosebumps.

But if you are a horror movie fan you just have to watch this one :)

Stanley Ka Dabba - Brilliant ... A Must Watch.. A Small Story With A Big Heart Indeed...Truly A Great Hindi Children Movie

I know its been more than a week that this movie had release but just had to write about this one as such brilliant movies are not made everyday and this one definitely is a rare gem for the Hindi movie industry in terms of a masterpiece of a story, direction, performances and a fantastic children movie which is a rare thing we come across in the production of Hindi movies.

This is one of those movies which will remain close to my heart always and will always make me life with a positive perspective always yes you could say this could be one of those life changing movies for many of us.

When we seat and make fun of others and forever crib for the smallest shortcoming of life this movie is like a wake up call and shows us about this ten year super intelligent boy who despite of the most difficult times in his life does not fail to smile or put a smile on others face as well and here sometimes I go about complaining for the smallest reasons non stop at times and was actually feeling quite ashamed.

We take the best gifts from God for granted and never really appreciate much what we are bestowed upon with but a movie such as this a big eye opener for quite a few of us ...

I would say this is a movie of a lifetime ..you would be doing yourself a favour by watching this one..

Don't miss it ...

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides - Journey to the fountain of youth is loads of fun and Jack Sparrow You Rock :)

I had been waiting this one to release since the time I had heard about its making and had been counting days since then and yes the wait has been totally worth it:)

I would surely like to say this one surpasses its predecessor the 2007 release'Pirates Of The Caribbean:At World's End' in terms of the fun sequences as well as the actions sequences this one surely is much ahead of the rest of the series and the presence of Super Hot Penelope Cruz did not make me miss Kiera Knightly even a bit Penelope Cruz is way too overpowering and way too natural as well just love her spunk:)

And yes Jack Sparrow aka Johny Depp is super just cannot imagine the POTC series minus him ever :)

Coming to the storyline this one is about the journey to find the elusive fountain of embarked by Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp)and Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush) and Blackbeard and his daughter(Penelope Cruz) too and the journey is full of adventure and loads of fun and yes we have mermaids too this time around :)

Geoffrey Rush as Barbossa was spectacular as always loved h

There's a real witty one liner which Johnny Depp says during one of his conversation with Penelope Cruz and that was 'If you had a sister and if I had to chose between your sister and a snake I would chose the snake' :))

So get yourself ready to watch

Arthur - Good movie...not great but watchable for sure....

Apparently this one is a remake of 1981 movie of the same name but me not having seen that went with no expectation and actually quite enjoyed this one.

Russel Brand is not my favorite actor and never will be but in this movie as an extravagant, disoriented and a total spoilt rich brat gets into the skin of his role quite well and looks wasted throughout the movie :)

The funniest bit was a 30 plus guy having a Nanny to look after him one myth proved right men never grow up ;)

This movie is quite funny and real good one liners coming from Russel Brand and Helen Mirren as her Nanny is the most likable character in this movie.

Watch this one for some light moments and good laughs and the beautiful New York City :)

Steel Magnolias - Entertaining Slice Of Life...Beautiful

This movie is apparently based on a true life incident which is a bit tragic but there are too many positive aspects of this movie which kind of takes your mind away from the tragedy like in life in life we always find reasons to be happy when life's worst challenges this movie depicts the same beautifully.

The ensemble cast boasts of the most likable actresses of all times with the likes of Julia Roberts,Sally Field,Shirley Maclaine makes this movie with a great storyline all the more charming and entertaining and quite engaging right from beginning till the curtain falls down.

I liked the movie immensely..and would recommend you to watch for sure..

Fast Five - This is first one I saw of these series but somewhere I think this was the best ..Simply Superb....WOW

I have not the earlier series but somehow was eager to watch this one maybe the Rio heist bit interested me more as Brazil is one of the places in my wish list to visit in this lifetime.

So I actually went with not much expectation of course except to see some wow cars and some great cinematography as the movie was shot in Rio De Janeiro and Puerto Rico both locales equally beautiful.

And the completely sprung a pleasant surprise not only being cinematographic but also has a real smart and intelligent storyline with its heart at the right place so its just not the beautiful machines and sexy babes but also a good story to follow.

Not a single moment of boredom fast paced yet intelligent and beautifully shot extremely pleasing to the eyes as well.

The action is what you call jaw dropping and eye popping loved every bit of it and honestly I am not an action and coming to think of it this movie wasn't really in my list of movies to watch this weekend but I am really glad I added it :)

Loved everyone's performance they fitted their role to the hilt and did full justice to it .

Awesome I totally recommend this one and actually still reeling under its effect.Worth it completely :)

Water For Elephants - Brilliant...Spectacular...Great Story...Awesome Performances..Magical....A Must Watch

Having not the read the the novel made me watch the movie without any preconceived notions and did I enjoy and savor every moment of it yes I did and still reeling under a beautiful feeling to say the least :)

This movie takes you back to the era of 1930s and makes such a memorable and amazingly beautiful journey of it makes every bit of the journey totally etched in our memories so easily and effortlessly.

I am not giving out the story though I am sure a lot of you have read the book but trust me the movie won't disappoint you in terms of story and performances and I am quite sure about that.

Apart from a great story and great screenplay the setup and the costumes of this movie is exquisite and deserves a special mention as it takes you back to that era and you can get completely immersed in it and I am sure everyone would find that very appealing.

The movie is a wonderful mixture of romance, passion, action, tragedy, joy and yes everything you can imagine and you would want to watch keeping the 1930 era in mind of course :)

Please do yourself a favor and watch this movie and I know and I am confident none of you will curse me :)

Performance wise definitely Christoph Waltz is brilliant and deserves an Oscar nomination..Reese Witherspoon is fantastic and yes Robert Pattinson is good too.

Thor - Real smart combination of Norse mythology stuff and the real world Marvel Universe...Big Screen Watch in 3D A Must :)

I knew this would have mind blowing special effect but even in terms of story and performance this one did not disappoint at all on the contrast its quite a fun movie to watch out for with good story, humor and absolutely stunning special effects and yes I am waiting for the sequel for this one :)

Marvel surely knows how to pump life to their comic characters and make them alive in the best manner possible be it Spider Man/Iron Man and now Thor which only has taken the scale higher :)

Chris Hemsworth as the Norse god Thor, and Tom Hiddleston as his villainous brother Loki actually shines the most in this movie and carries themselves in the most brilliant manner and the presence of stalwarts like Anthony Hopkins, Natalie Portman,Rene Russo does not overpower their performance for sure.

All I can say in Hail The Mighty Thor :)

Please enjoy this one in big screen and in 3D of course :)

Source Code - Excellent...Brilliant....Superb.....One Of A Kind...Don't Miss This One :)

Having seen getting great ratings pouring for this movie from everywhere I was quite looking forward to watch this one and made sure I started my Saturday by watching this one and I am glad I took the decision must say all the hype and good words said about this movie is totally well deserved and worth every penny paid towards the ticket :)

I am not really a big sci fi genre fan but must say enjoyed this one quite a bit as this one comes across as a good suspenseful thriller as well apart from being futuristic and yes the story is quite interesting and keep you on the edge of your seat where you wait to watch so whats going to happen next :)

Yes like most sci fi's it does come across a bit complicated certain times but enjoyable at all times.

Source Code keeps you guessing throughout, anticipating who the bomber could be.

Loved Jake Gyllenhaal's performance who has a strong sense of justice, duty, honor, and love.Michelle Monaghan is a pleasure to watch ,Vera Farmiga's character is quite strong and likeable too and yes you will see a bit of Russell Peters too.

Don't miss this one...

I Am - A Beautiful Poignant Slice Of Life With Its Good And Bad...Worth A Watch..Recommended

I have been watching Director's movies since his first one which was the awesome 2005 release 'My Brother Nikhil' - beautiful story about homosexual relationship in the conservative Indian society and the way relationships and life around the people concerned changes and after that I would consider this one as his best work after 'My Brother Nikhil'.

I AM is based on true stories and instances which we are familiar with in the current modern Indian society, the issues and the bruises that we are all living and dealing with happiness and sadness flowing along the sides in proportions which we are yet to decipher which is more and which is less in quantity.

There are 4 stories weaved in this movie connecting one to another so there is no exact culmination of the four stories but each one of them stands out completely with their scope of individuality and gives you loads and loads food for thought so much to ponder upon.

I loved all the 4 stories but if I have to chose the one favorite it would be that consisting Nandita Das loved the way she just stops convincing others why she lives her life the way she does she just listens to her heart which leads to ultimate happiness and causes harm to none :) And of course Nandita Das is top notch, enacting the complex role with absolute ease its an absolute pleasure to watch her perform she is indeed a great actress with talent in abundance.

Both Juhi Chawla and Manisha Koirala were such a delight to watch unlike the Katrinas, coming to other notable performances would be that of Sanjay Suri,Rahul Bose,Arjun Mathur,Abhimanyu Singh and Rushaad Rana.

Please don't miss this movie one of a kind...Brilliant...Recommended

Shor In The City - Brilliant Film ...Great Performances....Worth A Watch

This movie is brilliant no doubt and holds stark reality which can hit you and hit you really hard but the reality has been blended quite well with equal dose of humor so that the movie does not become dry and grim and yes this one reminded me of the 2002 release City of God but I am glad this wasn't as that crude and harsh..and no this is not a copy or anything of that sort but shows the city I totally love in both its good and bad shade yes I am talking about Mumbai :)

Tusshar Kapoor was so good I am really impressed and I am sure you will be when you see him in this and so was the rest of the cast everyone excelled in their respective performances. There's an actor called Pitobash part of Tusshar's friend trio who is simply outstanding and without doubt the discovery of the season he may not be super hot but he is a brilliant actor for sure and yes Sendhil gives a decent performance and is hot for sure ;)

Another must watch movie along with 'Chalo Dilli'...Recommended for sure :)

Chalo Dilli - Real good story and fantastic performance now thats what I call a good hindi movie :)

Here comes another good Hindi movie of 2011 actually since March 2011 there was a total drought in the Hindi Movie releases I mean yes there were releases but all style and lacked substance big time but then like April Showers this one comes as a breather and a real good one at that.

So the plot of the story yes kind of resembles 'Due Date'(2010) & PLANES, TRAINS AND AUTOMOBILES(1987) but thats it the whole treatment of the movie is completely Indian and something we all can relate to and i so completely loved this one.

This is a real fun story about two people from two complete different walks of life getting stuck in a journey created due to unavoidable circumstances and discovering many things in general about life which they had not realized earlier and this whole discovery during this interesting journey makes this movie worth every watch for sure.

There are some terrific true to life moments in this movie which kind of sets you thinking.

All in all a real good movie recommended for sure...

The Roommate - Decent Psychological Thriller but you can save yourself going to the theater get a DVD instead....

I had decided to watch this one when I saw the trailer of this movie the first time there is something about thrillers be it horror or mystery it always kind of attracts me and I find it very hard to resist and finally do watch them always :)

Coming to the story it had quite a bit resemblance to 1992 release 'Single White Female' the difference here is the setup which is college campus. The film revolves around Sarah (Minka Kelly) who is on her own, going to college and learning new things and then she gets herself a stalker roommate- Rebecca (Leighton Meester). As soon as Rebecca and Sarah become closer to each other, strange events begin to occur, each of Sarah's close friends or allies becomes hurt, or sometimes even killed (ex boyfriend)

So all in all watchable thriller wait for the DVD

Dum Maaro Dum - Full Style Zero Substance...totally lacks dum....not worth it for sure...Get the DVD of 1987 'Jalwa' instead...

Hindi movies this year started with a bang in January 2011 and kind of continued with good movies in Feb'2011 as well but since March'11 the releases seem to have gone dry and I guess World Cup is termed as the main factor for that but after World Cup got over with India's glorious and memorable win everyone had thought 'Dum Maro Dum' will be a good movie including me but must say I was disappointed big time.

The movie has lot of style good style but in terms of content its completely lacks substance big time.

The topic of Goa and drugs with rave parties is a great subject but what one makes out of it is upto the maker and 1987 release 'Jalwa' starring Naseeruddin Shah is the best movie made about Goan and Drugs and 1989 release 'Goonj' starring Juhi Chawla and Kumar Gaurav was also quite decent,I would recommend you those but would never recommend this one for sure.

Performance wise the men in the movie were all good - Abhishek Bachhan,Rana Daggubati - Super Hot,Pratiek Babbar and even Aditya Pancholi though would not like to comment about their half baked idiotic characters specially the one of Rana Daggubati's

Dev Anand should have never allowed his cult of a beautiful number(dum maaro dum) to be remade is this trashy manner and pictured in a real cheap vulgar way on Deepika Padukone she looks outright cheap and vulgar no class absolutely I would say Zeenat Aman was a complete Diva in the original one and Deepika Padukone is absolutely nowhere close to that from any angle.

Bipasha Basu looks wow and thats it her character also was half etched and somehow I felt no sympathy at all when she is embroiled in a drug racket because she was so totally responsible for getting herself in the messy situation in the first place and the same applies for Prateik Babbar's character as well.

I had gone with the expectation that at least it would interesting but total waste of time and money and absolutely not worth it.

The Skeleton Key - People are much scary than ghosts for sure and looks can be so deceiving .....

Not sure why did I chose this movie to watch today but picked this up randomly as this starred Kate Hudson and today happens to be her birthday so good enough to have watched this one and somehow having Scream 4 and Unknown last weekend had aroused sudden interest in thriller movies all together.

The movie slowly but surely creates fear in your mind with events unfolding one after the other and you start linking things to each other making the movie become more mysterious and intriguing.

You are bound to experience a sever jolt when the movie moves towards conclusion and reiterates that people are much scary than ghosts for sure and looks can be so deceiving.

The atmospheric surroundings, the haunting score, beautiful, spooky photography, and some fantastic acting by Gena Rowlands and Kate Hudson make this movie worth watching all the more.

Ok so I am not going to reveal more as that would be taking the real good story away.

I would recommend to see this in a dark rainy evening or to have the best effects switch all the lights except for the DVD player of course and have a flickering candle in one corner of your room :)

Unknown - Fast paced thriller keeps you on your edge and takes you by complete surprise till the end from the start, loved it...

This is one movie which keeps you guessing from the start to end to what to expect in the next scene. The concept of stolen identity has been done quite sometime in Hollywood and each time with an unique story and Unknown though catering to the same category of stolen identity has feet of its own and takes you by complete surprise like Bangalore's weather this movie too is quite unpredictable and thats what is the USP of this fast paced thriller.
Liam Neeson keeps you totally engaged in the action throughout the movie must say with age he just seems to getting better, loved the spunky performance by Diane Kruger she is really good,Bruno Ganz as an aging former Stasi agent gives an outstanding performance and rest of the cast is quite good too.

The movie is very well shot, quite entertaining...Recommended for sure...

The Lincoln Lawyer - Great Movie..Fabulous Story...Fantastic Performances.....Worth A Watch For Sure...

Honestly i never thought Mathew McConaughey could come up with such a great performance and such a great movie as I have always seen him in light romantic comedies so this one definitely came as a complete pleasant surprise both in terms of the content of the movie and his performance as well.

Based on the book by Michael Connelly of the same name this one is a thrilling drama about about a smart and smooth defense attorney Mick Haller, played by Mathew McConaughey, who represents a high-profile client on charges of attempted murder.

As the story moves ahead with each passing day a new evidence related to the murder popping up which only makes the case more and more interesting and the movie more and more intriguing and keeps you guessing till the end.

Great acting by William H. Macy, Michael Pena, John Leguizamo, Josh Lucas, and Marisa Tomei and yes Ryan Philippe too.

I would surely recommend this movie and trust me you will definitely like this one :)
