Highway - Superb one not to be missed ..

Highway - What a relief to see a non crappy Bollywood masala movie but of course when one is used to garbage the good stuff will take time to have the right effect. The movie dealt with a subject which most of the Indian families have the habit of hiding it under the carpet and that is of child abuse. I have heard of many such experiences where families have hidden such reprimanded the girl/boy and have supported that awful uncle/aunty/nephew/niece. I know of a friend who had to face the wrath of her relatives when she protested her younger cousin brother's advances and her whole set of family started only picking on her and finding her faults. In life it takes a lot of time to forgive and heal oneself but surely its difficult to forget..well life can be brutal at times. Both Alia Bhatt and Ranndeep Hooda have done a brilliant job, heartwarming performances, very very touching. The cinematography is just breathtaking..felt like packing my bags and setting for that trip to Leh again :) Rest of the cast have done a great job too. The few scenes that are going to stay with me are : -The scene where Alia Bhatt's character breaks into a real cute jig with Ranndeep Hooda's friend - The way Alia Bhatt expresses her feelings to Ranndeep Hooda with earnest honesty, the way she says it is totally adorable - The scene where Alia Bhatt shouts at the wretched Uncle If I was in her place I would have have slapped him real tight across his face.. Imtiaz Ali - brilliant job. A R Rahman's music grows into you. I loved the movie and if you want to experience a good cinema off the usual path go for it..

The Wolf of Wall Street - Weird but Entertaining to the core

This movie is bound to blow your mind away, the performances, the gripping storyline. The cycle of life which never spares anyone. Based on the true story of Jordan Belfort from his rise to his fall ..the journey was one hell of a ride. The movie consists of strong sexual content, graphic nudity, drug use and language(f%$#) throughout so the movie falling under adult category is completely justified. The highest score of the movie are the performances and every actor has done a brilliant job of course Leonardo DiCaprio steals the show he definitely deserves an Oscar nomination and maybe an Oscar too Rest of the cast which comprised of the following good actors did a fantastic job as well: Jonah Hill Matthew McConaughey Kyle Chandler Rob Reiner Margot Robbie Jean Dujardin Jon Favreau The movie has loads of humor and yes adult humor. Its close to 3 hr movie but it didn't seem like a stretch at all,I enjoyed the movie thoroughly more so for the awesome performances. The combination of Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio has given us some of the best movies in the last twelve years : Gangs of New York - 2002 The Aviator - 2004 The Departed - 2006 Shutter Island - 2010 The Wolf of Wall Street - 2013 So I am sure we will see a lot of Oscars going to them this season Recommended

47 Ronin - Unexpectedly Good :)

I solely went to see this movie for Keanu Reeves but was mighty pleased with the movie overall. This one is an action adventure movie with some great special effects. Apparently these Samurai's did exist. The movie was a great fun ride. If action adventure is one of your favorite genre then I suggest you watch it and of course in the big screen as thats where its worth it.

12 Years a Slave - Powerful

Based on the true story of Solomon Northup this is one heartbreaking yet powerful movie ... awesome performances but yes the slavery bit can get disturbing ..Gosh aren't we all blessed ..imagine getting abducted and sold as a slave ...Brilliant piece of cinema not to be missed ... A word of caution : its violent ..closed my eyes during few of the scenes.. Chiwetel Ejiofor is outstanding so is Michael Fassbender. Brad Pitt is quite likeable in a brief role.. A great movie from Steve McQueen.. Here's to humanity...

American Hustle - Smart Con Movie :)

This is what you call a smart movie literally full of witty one liners and filled with awesome performances..this movie surely will be up for many nominations this movie award season. Christian Bale is superb won't be surprised if he bags an award for this one. Amy Adams one of my favorite impressed yet again in this powerful role..someday I hope she gets and award. Bradley Cooper as always is likeable and tickles your funny bone Jennifer Lawrence is fantastic ..one actress to look out for in the years to come. Jeremy Renner is good and Robert De Niro too does impress in a brief and important role. The movie is quite entertaining and keeps you engaged throughout. Director David O. Russell who earlier gave us 'The Fighter' (2010) ,'Silver Linings Playbook' has come up with yet another winner in hands. Recommended for sure

Grudge Match - Great Flick

Its so good to see this kind of movies where an actor's age is never a matter of concern. Loved the movie for its feel good factor, sportsmanship and human relationships. Robert De Niro of course stole the show but Sylvester Stallone was great as well and Allan Arkin was simply superb Kim Basinger looks so hot Recommended the best release this weekend

The Book Thief - Awesome..outstanding

I haven't read the book but I can vouch for the movie. Heartwarming yet heartbreaking. Whether you have read the book or not please make sure to watch this beautiful movie. Geoffrey Rush was superb so was Emily Watson so was the rest of the cast specially the girl who played the role of Liesel (Sophie Nelisse) No one lives forever why not make the most of it while our batteries are still running Loved the movie great start to this week Of course recommended

Jaatishwar - A Must Watch

After a crazy week when I am looking forward to unwind of course a good movie is the first thing that crosses my mind-yes i know I am an exception because thought of a good movie crosses my mind everyday ) And when the first movie of the weekend turns out to be much above the notch of just being good rather turns out to be an excellent movie then the feeling is something else altogether, a great start to the weekend I tell you Only a great director can portray the two eras running in parallel to this a perfection ,draw the similarities in the two eras which is bound to leave u speechless and the eyes a little moist..So Srijit Mukherjee take a bow We look forward to more such great quality cinemas from you Srijit's work is becoming more and more impeccable with each new movie that he comes up with ...Good for us I tell you Prosenjit Chatterjee he is outright brilliant portraying the roles of Kushal Hazra and Hensman Anthony /Anthony Firingee ...he is such a good actor and he seems to be choosing great work with each passing day unlike many super stars( Salman KhanSharukh Khan Sunny Deol/Bobby Deol ) of Bollywood where as they are growing older they seem to be taking up sillier body of work instead of some meaningful body of work. Jishu Sengupta - Apart from being a good looker he also is a good actor loved his character of Rohit Mehta slowly but surely you too will start praying that he does achieve his goal..loveable character ..heartwarming performance. Abir Chatterjee - Remember the real loveable husband of Vidya Balan's character from 2012 release Kahani another good looker and good actor he has a brief but important and his pleasant presence does bring in the difference that is needed:) Swastika Mukherjee - very impressive, her eyes talk and talks beautifully ..have seen her many good Bengali movies in the recent past and have always liked her. Riya Sen - She should stick to such good roles she makes such a pleasant sight. Mamata Shankar - A fantastic actress and yet another great performance from her. Ananya Chatterjee - An awesome actress even in those 5 minutes she leaves you asking for more. My apologies for not having known the names of other actors as every character has their importance and everyone has done a great job. Srijit Mukherjee must say you are a good actor too apart from being a fantastic director. Apart from great performances, good engaging storyline , visually delightful the movie also has beautiful soul stirring music...my personal favorite was the one Jishu Sengupta sings in the rock show and the song in which Prosenjit's Firingi character sings both Christ and Krish are the same what a beautiful universal message. As I always say never let not knowing a language be a barrier for you to miss out on a great movie and specially when the movie is released with English Subtitles Thank you Srijit and the whole team for giving us this beautiful, mesmerizing movie Recommended...of course this is the best release this weekend :)

Dedh Ishqiya - Recommended

Finally managed to see the complete movie today somehow i am not disappointed anymore that i was not able to see the complete movie yesterday in theater and the icing was we got the refund of the tickets So coming back to the movie I thought the movie was kinda slow in the first half but fun and too much shayari and all that stuff that I guess was the demand of the story of this movie. The storyline is quite interesting and keeps you guessing whats in store next. Sorry to disappoint the Madhuri Dixit fans though she looks very good but when came it to performances i think the rest of the seasoned brilliant actors - Naseeruddin Shah Vijay Raaz,Arshad Warsi ,Huma Qureshi overshadowed her, having said that will still say she was good but i think she had a great spunk in 2007 release 'Aaja Naachle' and I can see it in her upcoming 'Gulaab Gang' maybe her role was supposed to be subdued but no real complaints about that The movie definitely has taken inspirations from 1991 Hollywood release 'Thelma & Louise' in a positive way What I loved about the climax is the message that nothing is more important than freedom in your life..just the simple choice of how to spend the whole day as per your choice can be a real big deal A cage made of gold and other various precious stones would still be a cage right Loved the way both the women leads found happiness on their terms and conditions ..men were welcome to become part of their lives but they were still complete with or without them and for that message I give full marks to director Abhishek Chaubey Sisterhood/Girlfriends rock :) Recommended

Saving Mr.Banks - Sheer Brilliance

Saw Saving Mr.Banks again and loved it all the more and having seen all the Oscar nominated movies I am really surprised not pleasantly of course that this gem of a movie is not nominated in any category. Emma Thompson most definitely deserved an Oscar nomination in the best actor in lead so did Tom Hanks and Paul Giamatti and Colin Farrell were just superb with their heartwarming performances. Actually the whole cast of the movie is very well selected and everyone has done a commendable job. Awesome music too for me this is the best release this weekend. Don't miss this gem of a movie..worth a visit to the theater for sure..Recommended for all ages, as Mr.Disney says in the movie 'I want to make a movie which all age group would enjoy ' This is one such brilliant piece of work :)

Philomena - Heartbreaking..excellent one

One of the best movies of Judi Dench, must say she completely deserves her Oscar nomination. This is what I love about Hollywood they come up with such interesting thought provoking movies catering to every age group. Well all the people who argue with me I am yet to watch a movie from Bollywood where the main female lead is 70 plus and seeing the current trend I doubt it will ever happen.. Week after week Bollywood comes up with trashy movies then one 'the lunchbox' happens but no way does it have as many footfalls like 'Chennai Express' etc..anyways I am glad I have reduced watching Hindi movie specially of today's times. Coming back to the story of this movie its a poignant tale of a woman's search for her son, who was taken away from her as she was in a convent and child outside wedlock in a convent is absolutely not happening. The movie is heartbreaking yet a piece of sheer brilliance with some amazing performances from both Judi Dench and Steve Coogan. A search till it reaches its goal will always remain unaccomplished and whatever the consequences be there always lies an answer Another awesome movie which I am not sure will see the release in India ..don't bother grab the DVD at the earliest Recommended :)

Hasee Toh Phasee - Nice one..a pleasant watch just wish the length was a bit shorter :)

If you ask me I would say this is the first good Hindi movie release of 2014. A Nice breezy story with heartwarming performances except from most of the actors present in the movie except for Adah Sharma. A good romance is always fun to watch specially if its got good witty one liners and some real life situations. I have always disliked the idea of big families/joint families/ vicious relatives and many situations in this movie reminded rather reaffirmed my dislike towards the same. There always will be always this aunt/uncle who will poison one's parents mind how useless your children are and superior their children are and I remember I was criticized to the core for the love of movies :) I am so glad I don't keep in touch with them anymore neither do I feel their need or miss them anytime ever be it Diwali,Durga Puja,Christmas,Holi or New Year :)) Why I mentioned the above bit you will realize once you watch the movie. Opposites attract and love blossoms so whats new well the treatment and the storyline :) Parineeti Chopra is a super actress and an absolute delight to watch..must say Priyanka Chopra has solid competition within the family :) Sidharth Malhotra is quite a revelation from hunk in Student Of The Year to a mature role in this one is a great leap and he is quite a charismatic guy :) Adah Sharma I thought was complete plastic did not like her .. The film stars a host of talented actors - Sharat Saxena, Manoj Joshi, Sameer Khakhar and Neena Kulkarni and everyone is brilliant. A light and breezy movie recommended for this season of love.
