Biutiful coming from an ace director Alejandro González Iñárritu who has given us the mind blowing 'Babel' is complex, interesting, very very disturbing in few sequences but overall a slice of life which is quite realistic without any sugar coating ,this is about a margin of the society which exists very much be it any part of the globe ,it's about everywhere we don't want to live, it's about everyone we don't want to meet; it's about all the struggles we'd rather not face.
So when all the above mentioned factors mentioned are depicted the movie ought to be loud, violent, crazy, shameful, desperate, dirty and quite touching as well.
The story revolves around the character called Uxbal (Javier Bardem) he has a shady life with shady dealings but at the same time has his heart in the right place, though he pimps out underpaid migrant workers to whoever will employ them but somewhere deep inside him he is concerned about their welfare as well and that bit was quite touching.
Here's a man who is dying but does not give up any opportunity to secure financial safety for his two kids and somewhere he also gets entangled with the migrant's lives as well and treats their problems as his own.
To be honest the movie has its share of scary and creepy moments as well and some moments are way to disturbing I am still trying to get over them.
Javier Bardem is brilliant and his eyes speak I think if an actor is gifted then his/her eyes always speak and conveys much more than words/dialogues.
This movie like Bable will surely gain the cult classic status which breaks all conventions.Recommended.
