Gulaab Gang - Worth A Watch for Mads and the entire brilliant cast not Juhi Chawla's best though :)

The presence of Madhuri Dixit - Nene and Juhi Chawla and to add that a women oriented subject was good enough to watch this one. The mixed reviews could not held me back from watching this one and somehow I am glad I did and I did like the movie with its share of flaws. As most you must be aware this movie is loosely based on the real Gulaabi Gang from Bundelkhand as much as director Soumik Sen says its a work of fiction but the inspiration cannot be denied and absolutely nothing wrong with that. The prime focus of this movie is a group of women who takes up varied issues -- domestic violence, dowry, rape, electricity, education, etc. ..no wait the movie actually is about Rajjo - Madhuri Dixit - Nene and watching her emoting, fighting, singing is nothing less of a great experience and full marks to the director to utilize the true potential of this superb actress. I am sorry Juhi Chawla fans which includes me as well - she was good but Mads was Mads class apart and not sure why every time Juhi came in screen she came across more comical than conniving and shrewd and yes she reminded me of the unhealthy Kurkure ads almost all the time :) I wish the movie had dealt with the issues of violence against women in a much more substantial manner , it seemed a bit shallow , rather than having songs they should have invested that time in those issues a bit more. Yes the amount of problems we have in the villages/town/cities of our country , we definitely Gulaab Gang big time just not for the atrocities towards women but for common people..life just isn't fair,.while one thinks which car/bike/dress/bag/shoe to buy next there are many who are thinking how and where will they get their next meal. Next time when we crib that our cities are getting crowded because so many people from small towns and villages are coming we should know its the need of a better life that uproots them from their place and gets them to big concrete jungle..and everyone of us have the right to make our life better right.. Its not a path breaking cinema but definitely a story which will make you ponder and remind you to be thankful about all the beautiful things/relationships/friends that you are bestowed with in this lifetime. Madhuri Dixit you rock and noone ever can take your place :) Come on Indian Film Industry/Bollywood lets see more of her I am sure her best is yet to come :) All the performances are absolutely great as well and topping the list is Divya Jagdale, , Priyanka Bose and Tannishtha Chatterjee . Even with its share of flaws I would recommend this one as it has powerful message and is quite an uplifting movie :)
